I feel like there was a recent thread about this . Either way, I first used 13 for sports because my favorite Cleveland shortstop at the time wore 13. At some point I was playing baseball a couple age levels up and one of the bigger kids had 13 already so I went with 14. It's been my number ever since.

Even if the corner workers understand hexadecimal, I doubt the timing system will accept it. :)

#47. Needed a 2 digit number since my daughter used to autocross with me. I was 47 years old when I found out about autocross and started autocrossing. And I work on CH-47 helicopters.

Better hex than binary. "Car, umm, one hundred million..."

96, because it is easily read going straght, spinning, or upside down. The crew of Stupider Than We Look Racing needed all the help they can get.

We thought about transposing the numbers, but that exceeded my limits of good taste. Wait- maybe I didn't phrase that quote right....

We've run the 343 on our Subaru in ARA for the last 3 years   343 is the name of a major video game company but more importantly it's very significant to firefighters   It's the number of them who were lost in the twin towers on 911...

I was 808 and my co driver was 888. Made it simple to change between sessions. 808 was on my car with some very permanent  red vinyl a little red tape was a simple change for my Friend Red to drive my car.

Many Nissan's want to be #23 because it's pronounced Ni-San in japanese.

That number was taken x2 in my series.  So I looked into 523, Go-Ni-San...also taken.

So my car's number is Ni-San-Go.  Totally hopeless nissan nerd here.

On our LeMons car we run 688 because we are Sub Par Racing and we are all submarine mechanics.

23

In japanese, two is "ni" and three "san".  Many of Nissan's factory race cars have ran the number 23 in competition because of this. I run it usually on mine.

Inspiration for my plate as well.

17/117/171/71

Originally it started for me with the whole Halo "Master Chief" Spartan #117 (last of the spartans to survive from that super soldier program). Many times sports/events would only allow 2 digit numbers and there were a few influential #17 athletes that came to mind, so I'll often run some variant of this. #17 is often taken, so 71 works in a pinch too.

503 because it was assigned to me randomly at an autocross and I decided to keep it the rest of the season and it just stuck.

40 because it was my number when I played soccer in high school. Or 02 when I autocrossed my old BMW 2002.

Nice 200sx! My first car was a 1985 200sx, I still own it, but it's just been sitting at my parent's house for over 20 years now. I hope to one day do something fun with it though! :)

THAT is what an autocross car is supposed to look like.

I'm surprised more Miata drivers don't request 42.  It's the answer.
