I had a friend who bought a nationally competitive F Prod Midget that had 13:1 compression. The former owner used race gas with no issues. My friend decided to use pump gas with an octane booster. He kept burning pistons. He tried to run it rich to compensate and all that got him was a car that wouldn't start after he spun out and stalled the motor. Use the good stuff.

Ouch and, yeah, if you spent the money for the good engine, feed it the good fuel.

$3 a gallon?
I wish.
The last time I bought C16 was a decade or so ago, and it was $80 for five gallons. Good thing I was just the errand boy. No idea what Q16 costs other than "more, and worth it". People have made a thousand horsepower from unopened stock FD RX-7 engines with big turbo, big fuel system, and Q16.
Local station has Sunoco 100, last time I bought some was $8/gal. This when 93 at the same station was a bit under $3.
