I want to change the wheels on the FR-S, and I thought some stock takeoffs from another car would do the trick untill I had money for some real rims.
Any thoughts on what might fit?
(There are some 17x8, with 48 offset for sale on the open classifieds. Would they fit?)
Here's a list of all cars that came with 5x100 pattern wheels:

I think your best bet might be something from a non-STI WRX.
I have seen one using what looked to be 6 spoke, 16" Impreza wheels, so those? I would imagine many other Subaru wheels will fit if those did.
Not sure, 8" wide at the same offset puts them 13mm closer to the spring perch. But it should be fine, go check the FT86 forum wheel section to see what offsets people are running in different widths.
I'm no help, my BRZ has 18x9.5 ET 38 with 255/35 Direzza IIs.
Find the lightest 17x8" WRX Wheels you can afford, or (2004 model year only) WRX STi.
Otherwise; just save up and go 17x9"
I have a set of Enkei Shoguns I'll sell you for cheap... 17x7 et38.

Offer those on the Subaru SVX website forums. They'll sell quickly.

Yeah, good idea. That's actually what I bought them for, but then I sold the SVX.
Have you seen the handy-dandy ZN6 chassis wheel directory on FT86 forum (most awesome wheel directory I've ever seen actually, and it's for a single car!)...scroll down to OEM wheel section:
