does nothing for me.

At some point, it's about throwing money at it. This appears to gotten to be a "how much money can I spend to be impressive" project.

The Nissan V8 Miata that was done for the 2010 challenge is a lot more impressive. And it's fast in a timer method as opposed to gymnasitcs ratings.

Drifting doesn't make you faster, drifting is just supposed to be fun. I would even hazard to say that it's harder to be good drifter than it is to be a good road racer.

No flaming from me. I agree that it's darn hard to do well, and I'd even venture to say that if you get good at drifting, moving into serious road-racing isn't to tough since the car control's already there.

This is hilarious. I post a video of a v10 swapped impreza, and people are complaining about drifting. Personally, when I originally watched the video, I saw no drifting.

certanily didn't sound like a v10.. but it also lacked the typical suby burble

Ok, it's an exercise in spending a lot of money. BFD.

Andy's Nova that did 10.6 1/4 mile back in '04 for less than $2k is also a lot more interesting that that.

Eric's 350 Z car that won the Challenge is more interesting than that.

the car is totally pointless, it can't race anywhere, so all you can do is drift with your money,

I don't think there is a law anywhere that states that a car that was used for drifting is unable to perform well in any other area of motorsports.

That's like saying if you can moonwalk you can't dance.

And also, we have no idea what his budget was. For all we know, he built it himself.

It just seems like a lot of people here were so blinded by their dislike of drifting to see how cool the project is. I find that disappointing, but that's alright. It is what it is. I hope at least one other person found it worth viewing.

I agree, that's a damn nice project and the owner is out on track driving it hard, what's not to love?

It's a BMW V10.

What more do you need for financial info?

Just making sure that KEEPS running is expensive, let alone buying one. Let alone the size of the shoehorn to put it in.

If he took that to the Salt Flats, and set a class land speed record with it, it would be cooler.

Otherwise, it's an exersize in spending money.

BTW, if that's supposed to be interesting driving, it handles very, very poorly. Too much oversteer.

Oh, come on. It's cool.

Drifting is fun to watch, and fun to do. If your idea of a good time is watching Hugh Grant movies and drinking green tea then maybe it's not for you, but if you like cars and noise and tire smoke then it's fun.

I could see where a figure skater, ice dancer, or veteran roller skate-off competitor might think that way... but hockey players know better.
