BIL's Solara is too far gone to bother saving it. We're going to scrap it.
What parts should I grab off of it before taking it there? We're looking for things that can be removed without too much effort, that the scrapyard won't notice or care about. So far I'm thinking the center caps, the rear crossmember if it isn't too far rusted (holy E36 M3 do those go for a lot of money), and maybe the wiper arms.
Anything else that is easy to remove, worth enough to go through the effort of selling on ebay, and not something completely obvious like a seat?
Did the car have a decent stereo? If so, grab the speakers.
Light bulbs, siphon the gas if it's good.

I've never regretted snatching hose clamps or hardware off a junker. Bolts, nuts, washers, all of it. I used two bumper bracket captured nuts to hold the slide on my kids playset the other week. Don't be too obvious about it and you should be okay.

Fuses and relays. Small trim pieces that might be in demand.
Nuts and bolts. Every nut and bolt you can get loose. Then organize them by size and you'll have a great source of high-quality fasteners. I've done this with a couple of Miatas and it's fantastic.
Put a 10mm socket on your impact gun and remove every nut and bolt that it fits. It will take all of ten minutes and you will be rewarded for many, many years.
There are likely many high mile Solara on the road in rust free areas but due to sun, the interior is trashed.
If it's easy to box and ship grab all stuff like door handles, center console lids, hvac controls, sun visors and list on eBay for a nationwide audience.

Much of the interior is trashed, but I'll grab what I can.
headlights and taillights are usually easy to grab and are generally expensive to replace so they are good ebay fodder.
other things are the ecu sensors, intake air temp, coolant temp, MAF, crank or cam angle, etc. Sometimes these are easy to grab and they cost next to nothing to ship.
You will find it hard to scrap a cat in chicagoland because of recent laws hoping to stem theft. But if you drive to northern indiana you can still sell them for good money. You might be able to sell it on ebay if you want to deal with that.
things that would die on high mileage models
electric window motors , windshield wiper motor
or just look on ebay on sold Solara parts and see what sells...
Just remember you need to ship what you sell and that can be a job by itself :(

This - I am just now running out of good auto hardware from 2 cars I completely parted years ago. Hugely helpful time saver.
The change under the seats. I found a Benjamin (and 32 cents) under the rear seat of the car I'm planning on building up for The $201x Challenge.
