I got my Grandmother's when she stopped driving. Came just in time for the fiasco that was replacing the engine in my disco. I sold it soon after to a co-worker in need of a car for his wife. It had good power from the V6, but other than the entertaining infotainment centre, it was not a fun car to drive.
Came here to say Gastropod, but since that’s already been suggested, have you considered the Gambler 500?
A plan has been hatched, so unless someone has a aircooled VW shell/rolller (don’t need a motor) they wanna trade...hint hint.... I’ll be driving the Malibu from FL to TN. I’ll get the car and a clean FL title. Pick up won’t happen for a month or so due to work and family commitments but I will make sure to document the outcome here.

A friend of mine had the Olds version of that same car. It was so generic that he thought about adding a windshield banner saying "CAR".
My wife had a 98 cutlass when we met, she had previously had a 95 Malibu and it was totalled. Upon hearing the story I mentioned that she must have liked the car since she bought essentially the same car again and she didn't realize they were the same car with different grilles and wheels. She still gets mad at me when I bring it up.

My grandmother also had an Oldsmobile Malibu. I didn't like it quite as much as the previous cutlas ciera but it was a decent car. My cousin inherited it and eventually the lower intake manifold gaskets failed. I told him that if he was keeping me as his mechanic i'd recommend he let me sell it and use the money to buy him a chrysler minivan instead, which he did.
