What to do with old helmets?

My SA2010 helmet will be here on Monday, relegating my SA2005 helmet to passenger duty.

What do I do with my SA2000 helmet? Trash?

Get a side car.

Paint it to replicate your favorite driver's helmet and show it off in your garage/house?

Ask the local AutoX folks if they need donor helmets and what SA level they'll accept.

I'd say this. One of our local groups has a grab bag for events like solo ice racing that we do here in Michigan (or at least when it's cold enough).

I have a pile of old helmets.

In the slight chance a Tornado comes real close, the family can put one on, and laugh at each other 'til trouble passes.

I use mine as book ends.. have I think 6 in our living room on sheleves.. luckly I don't read many books so there is plenty of room for more

Shotgun practice? Save it to practice painting on? Save to use in the next Sand Blaster 2x4 and tarp booth you build. Give to your kids along with a bat and let them take turns?

We had 3 motorcycle helmets from the 70's running around our place for that very reason, when myself and my miscrient friends decided to get too rowdy.

You need to start a new redneck reality TV series where you say "Hey watch this" while doing something really stupid while wearing your out of date brain bucket.

I like both of these ideas.

Mine are proudly displayed on top of my kitchen cabinets as they retire.

I'll buy it from you - my GF needs a small auto-x helmet. SA2005 would be great. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

One time I went to visit my folks and one night I came outside to find my brother and his idiot friends running full-speed into one another wearing my old trackday helmet and some motorcycle helmet they'd gotten somewhere. So if you know anybody who's either a moron or some kind of frat boy, you could always give it to them for that.

My wife got up in the middle of the night and caught me watching LeMans (the movie) in my helmet and fire suit. She just shook her head and went back to bed.

She tried to make fun of me about it with my friends, but, bless 'em, they thought it was perfectly normal.
