Never considered myself to have automotive ADD but lately I'm getting antsy for a fun toss-able car. I have a 75 C3 Vette. Not the best handling car out there and not the cheapest to make so. Not to mention it could use an engine upgrade. I do have an LT1 in the garage in pieces that came from a trooper car including the 4l60e trans. The steering even with all new parts is only adequate. Needs a good paint job too. I was reading the C4 thread and thinking about moving up to the next gen. Certainly an easier car to make turn and the power is already greater than the 185 I'm making. Could also put the LT1 in if needed to. So esteemed GRMers...what would you do? Problem is I really love the look of my shark. And I've had it since June of 2001. I keep telling the wife not to get emotionally attached to any car. Can't seem to take my own advice. But, it would be neat to get a car that was brand new when I was in 9th grade (84).
Would moving into the C4 be better in the long run?

Think first year C5. Best bang for your buck if you ask me.
But for the money I could get for my 6/10ths C3 a workable C4 judging by the CList ads is possible.
It really depends on what you want. Frankly, I'm not sure I would want to drive my C4 every day. A C5, I'm told, it much better in that regard.
Maybe I'm getting old and cranky, but the creaking/rattling interior and rough ride would get to me. Admittedly, roads here are imperfect and I drive my daily drivers at least 3hrs a day.
YMMV.
They DO handle very well, are smaller than they feel. (the driver sits a long ways back, and I think that contributes to the feel)
Very catchable, V8 torque and sound, decent highway fuel mileage, great seats. Pretty easy to work on.
Is there a rule about having more than one car?
Keep the Vette your baby, wax it, make nice and treat her well. If I had an extra LT1 in the garage, I would build up a 60s or 70s mid-sized Chevy just for Auto-X and track days.; keep it street legal for cruising or to and from events. I'm partial to a 1962 Chevy II; add suspension, move the LT1 aft a bit for balance and you have everything a GRMer could ever want.
Fun, tossable? I saw a Catterham kit car with a 5.0 Mustang drive train once.
