So I've been looking at getting a new/newer car... I plan to do a few track days a year and about half a dozen to a dozen autoX's. I need the help of GSR to narrow down what I should be looking at.

Must be under 30k Must be a manual If used must be under 60k miles If used must be newer then 2012 Has to be a "bigger" car, I'm 6 foot 275 lbs so Miata's are out of the question lol

The car will be a daily driver, I live in MD so I will have some snow but not to much. Possibly getting an XJ in a few months so snow isn't a huge concern.

I've kinda been thinking of a '13-'14 Mustang GT with the track pack.

The answer seems pretty obvious:

You might find this recent chatter reliant to your situation:

Definitely look at FRS/BRZ...then get a nice Recaro seat and you will be extremely comfortable. I'm 6'2" and fit fine, just a little light at 185lbs...

Can have lots of fun in them... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BiDUoBJ9uQ

Can you fit in an Evo X?

'13-'14 GT is a good choice. Can still keep up in FS at the local level (or even at the national level with a really good driver, although I feel that as the 2015+ gets developed the solid axle cars will become uncompetitive in FS). However, there is probably the new STP class coming and you could prep for that. Or CAMC. Lots of options with that car.

I looked at Evo X's and I can't get a good driving position to save my life. I'm really thinking the GT. I liked the BRZ's but I can't imagine having to do big brakes and a supercharger just to keep up with my friends on a backroad. I'd like to look at a camaro ss 1le if they were cheap enough.

Any other thoughts?

C5 Z06? Doesn't meet your "2012 or newer" parameter, but you could buy a decent example and a winter beater and still have plenty of play money available. Of course, most of your "play money" will end up buying tires, but still.

WRX. Can be gotten brand new for under or around $30k. Or low 20s for a low-mile 2.5 from the last generation. Fast, great daily drivers (the manual buckets are surprisingly comfortable), and will easily fit you (I'm 6'0 and with a helmet I have tons of room above me even with the seat at the "high" setting). They all come with manuals. Can be fast in autocross (and rallycross). Can be had in hatch or trunk. Backseat will fit a couple over-6-footers easily as well. And (IMO) some of the best steering out there (at leats in my 09 with poly bushings)

And instead of a Cherokee, get a second set of wheels with wintersports. It'll do far better in the snow than a Cherokee anyhow in every way, unless we get a massive blizzard.(source: I own a WRX and used to own an XJ).
