This is for my Chumpcar - long hours of being pushed hard.

What is the absolute BEST trans fluid for this transmission.

Thanks!

Any full synthetic Dex/Merc ATF should work fine. You supposedly have to be careful what you put in a WC T5, something about the friction lining in the synchro rings.

It's not just the synchros, the bearings don't like gear oil either. Synthetic ATF is the easy button.

The bearing don't know if they have gear lube or ATF lubricating them and don't care but the linings of the synchros in a WC T5 don't like gear lube! The bearings on a T5, and there are 9 in a WC and 6 in a NWC T5 don't really care. I have rebuilt or repaired at least 1/2 dozen T5's and taken apart another 2-3 others that weren't worth fixing. I have had good luck with Mobil 1 syn ATF. Some will swear by the GM synchromesh stuff, as well as the Redline brand. I've used Mobil 1 simply because I can get it at any parts store and it works! I've used in in my Mustang Road Race car without issues!

Interesting. Back in the day of the ZX2 it was discovered that Ford put ATF in the transmission, there were all kinds of reasons, none good, why.

It was "mandatory" to get that stuff out of there before it explodes.

My how times change.
