I know that the 90-93 Miata alloys are called Daisies, but did the 94-97 factory 14" alloys get a cutsie name too? I can't remember.

I think "Hollow Spoke" refers to a lightweight subset of this same style, and I'm pretty sure that that's not what I have or I would have sold them already.
Apparently there were three variations of the '94-'97 seven-spoke wheel: hollow-spoke, solid-spoke, and semi-solid spoke. This helpful guy posted pics and descriptions to help differentiate among them:
Iconic has nothing to do with how much you like them :)
They look much better without center caps and a bit of paint, though.

I agree with all of your points, but I wouldn't consider them to be iconic wheels.
Maybe not in the grand scheme of things, but they are in the Miata niche. The NA is the iconic Miata, and the original daisies are the wheels that go with that. The 94+ wheels just don't match as well with the style.
Just because I don't like a particular wheel doesn't mean that I wouldn't mount up a brand new tire on one and throw it in the trunk of somebody's granddaughter's car as a safe and usable spare though...
I've heard them called "7 spoke" wheels. which is kinda vague as the daisies have 7 as well, but you know.
I've had sets of all of them, the "solid spoke', "semi-hollow spoke" and "hollow spoke". The semi hollow spoke wheels came on slushbox models the same years the manuals came with the solid or hollow spoke versions. I never broke any of them, but I don't drive at a level that I felt a difference between them either.
