I grew up on an old farm in Westminster. Moved to Ga. many years ago. I snapped up the P72 the moment I saw it online in Manchester Md and had it shipped here. Would have driven it if we knew how good of a car it was. Had to be an admin car due to the color and lack of spotlight... Second owner was a Fireman from Westminster. Have all the original books on the car which show what I think is the Troopers badge number and name. And Ford ownercard showing Md. State police. Ford Sales code 17H-418 and in service date of 9. 4. 84.

Another vote for HPPs, but dog dishes would also be good.

(I never got around to putting Lincoln stickers over the Mercury logo in the center caps, whoops)

Incidentally, a 600 CFM carb is a LOT of carb for this engine.  I think there are smaller ones out there, something like a 500 CFM Edelbrock 1404 would probably be perfect.

That would be my suggestion as well, but with so many "bigger is always better" guys around, I didn't have my flame suit handy... glad you pointed it out, though.

If you are truly going for the sleeper, nothing says dirt nap more than the OE turbines. Every single car I saw rolling on these (mostly wagons now that I think about it) were perpetually doing 7 under the speed limit.

So much great perspective and info here as I knew there would be. Would just like to buy the folks on this board a frosty beverage. Root beer or otherwise...      Love the idea of larger steelies with the factory caps. Either dog dish or the full factory ones. But they are tough to find other than the Detroit steel which are a little spendy. Been looking for pre 03 P71 wheels too. Not a perfect style fit for me but close...  And the HPP wheels may work but would have to paint the spokes black like the LSC Mark VII Lincoln SE. Just different enough on a boxy car like ours.  And really like these "vision" wheels too. They are budget friendly in the 15x8 size which would allow us to put more tire under the car. Its good having choices!

I would think you can also put the full hubcaps on the aftermarket wheels like Cragar Soft 8. Which would give a wider wheel, and also allow changing the look of the car on occasion if you wanted.

Probably mix and match too, Cragar Soft 8 and figure out if the P71 center cap, or even Ranger pick up center cap from a steelie would fit on those. All the OEM center caps have different attachment methods, so it takes a bit of fiddling to make them work.

Here are OEM ford truck caps and trim rings on an aftermarket wheel which gets a wider wheel, but almost looks factory.

I am seeking permission to retract my ballot for dog dish hubcaps, and do a write in candidate.

Resurrecting the thread; did you ever settle on a choice?

I think this guy is silly high, but I'd be remiss not to include a link! They have been spr sale for a long time.

HPP's or Minilites.  Add some rectangular foglights with white covers to the front for that awesome 80's Euro sedan look.

Also, if you ever get sick of it, hit me up. :)
