mmm 11dollar car, I wonder if you might find the engine for slightly less and have a little better budget. Would be epic to see a Merc v12 powered challenge car.

If 389 hp and $2000 doesn't entice you enough, how does 500 and $4000?

The 2004 S600 engine sells for that little on car-part.

I'm wondering what needs 500 horsepower and can't get there otherwise.

The 107 chassis had sixes in them in Europe. (I did an engine remove-n-reseal in a grey market 280SE. OMG that car was slow) They had V8s in them in the US. A twelve should fit.

For added effect, twin CIS must be used.

Doesnt each piston still move up and down each revolution of the crank? I don't see how with the stroke being equal the pistons move at any different speed no matter how many cylinders you have.

Dude what? A V12 moving it's pistons at Nine Thousand Revolutions Per Minute? The engine would be flinging those pistons faster than a V8 at 6000RPM.

I'm just mad that my inline 4 at 3000rpms is moving as fast as a V8 at 6000rpms. I'm sure it's on the verge of blowing up since i rev it to 7600rpms, the equivalent of a V8 at 15200rpms. Can't wait to launch a piston through the hood.

For some reason that exact car is on my short list of cars I want to own.

I am not a huge fan of the claim rule either but I completely understand the need for it. They should make the claim rule such that you have to claim the car BEFORE the race (you still get to race it) or you have the option not to race.

If I had the motor I think I would put it in a boat. Somthing like this. Fresh water use only

Well, to be fair the Lemons claim rule is only there in name. It can only be exercised by Jay Lamm himself, and the S600 team actually begged Jay to claim their car. He did it basically as a publicity stunt and didn't really claim it. The only other time in the history of the series that he's used it was to "claim" the ultra cheaty engine from the Pratt & Miller Camaro (somehow they "found" the parts to build a 500hp race motor) but even then he just had them put it on a shelf in their shop for him "some day." Meaning he didn't really claim that, either..

I agree with you that most race series have E36 M3ty claim rules. But Lemons' claim rule is fine, at least until Jay starts to go mad with power and claims everything.

While a mid engined kit car has some definite appeal, how about a Porsche 924? Great chassis that needs (and can handle) more power, low price, and a V12 924 is even more unexpected than the Spanish Inquisition.
