Ok, here it goes. my aunt wants a small car that she can fit five people in for her regular trips to Windsor. It has to be under 19K tax included, with a USB port to plug in her iPhone 4S. She hates the Fiesta, and says 'It just doesn't have enough room. It also has to be a hatch. Her Camry Wagon is coming to an end, and she needs some new wheels fast. New or used, it doesn't matter. And she really wants a manual, just like her 91 5.0 Mustang that got t-boned by a flatbed.
I hope you guys can help.

Out of Camry Wagon.
Required:
under $19k cnd
seat 5 with real back seat
hatch back
manual trans
usb capable
If she likes similar then I recommend a Kia Soul or New (big) Scion xB. Both available in manual and in your price point.
I was thinking new yaris HB, but xb's a good bet. Maybe an 09 WRX with the opt. USB port? or a Mazdaspeed6 with an aftermarket sound system. She loves Mazdas.

Though the Yaris has decent leg room in the rear you may find the car a bit narrow to really place 3 true adults into the rear seat. Similarly narrow are the Kia Rio and Hyundai Accent.
I'm 6'5, and the Yaris had plenty of leg room for me, even with someone in the back behind me. I second the width concern though, they aren't real broad. Two in the back seat is much more realistic.

Would it help that she's 5'4, and her tallest friend is 5'9?

May help but the issue is not length or height, rather width.
I say mazda 3. She is really conciderate to take her friends size size as a factor in buying a car... I would tell them to take the bus and get another 5.0

good to know. New jetta?
Are we talking Jetta wagon or is the hatch requirement now off the table?
wagon, in canada it's the golf wagon.
1st gen Honda Fit Sport? how much do those go for in Canadia? Mine didn't have a USB but it did have a 3.5mm jack. Aftermarket stereo isn't all that much if USB is really a big deal, nowhere near a dealbreaker.
I'd also suggest the Fit, we have one. But it's about the same size as the Fiesta.
What about the Mazda 5? It's got a hatch on the back, and all the versitility she'd need.
My vote is for the Fit.
Maybe the Toyota Matrix would work as well though.

I was just gonna suggest the Matrix. I have a couple of female friends who own them, and although they're boring as hell, they're really practical and hold a lot of stuff.
Isn't the Mazda3 hatch the official car of Canada? I swear half the cars up there are one. I think that's your answer...
Focus is $19,165 brand new.
Sucks to be in Canada, you can get them for $15k here.
Nissan Versa hatchback. Cheap and supposedly has a huge backseat. Spend the $200 on an aftermarket stereo to get the phone hookup if it does not come from the factory.
I'll say Fit also but i'm a bit biased
