Does the '78 Datsun 510 share the same platform/under pinnings as the earlier 510 like the Peter Brock car in the Aug 09 GRM? Same suspension? Light weight?

No it is a 510 in name only. It does use a L20B engine, but that is about the only thing that is the same. This car is known as a Stanza in Japan, and OZ,but in the US they were called 510's. It is a live axle with a 4 link, and coil springs in the rear, and I wouldn't say it is light weight, but then again it isn't really heavy eaither. It is basically the bastard child of Datsun's,but I like it.
Chris
I forgot to add we also have a 2001 Dodge Ram Wagon 2500 van as a tow vehicle/dad's kid hauler/dump runner. Also my wife's 06 Toyota Sienna, and our 05 Starcraft pop-up camper, and my company work van(not mine so doesn't count).

Methinks you need to get some of those into Readers' Rides .
I feel like I'm letting the side down a bit, with just my Peugeot sitting outside. It's soon to be tarted up and sold, mind you...to make way for a LBC, or the Honda S600 I have my eye on.
Man, I'm really down on projects right now compared to everyone else.
In the garage is a 99 Rx300 I bought for the wife. It's getting a transmission and the whole front end is taken apart. It's various bits take up most of my 2.25 car garage.
The driveway contains my new 06 GTi MKV and my 70 240z basketcase project. Two big shelving units and most of my attic are also full of that 240z.
Currently at the shop are a 94 pristine but wrecked Saturn SC2, a 93 SC2 with a trashed motor and interior but good body (see where this is going?), a nice but slightly wrecked chevy diesel dually, a 22' enclosed trailer that needs some TLC, a 69 911s tub with enough parts to build about 5 more, and some cars I'll hopefully get paid to work on lolz.
In the garage:
1973 Triumph TR6 w/o a petrol tank
2003 Lexus IS300 SportCross (wife's car)
2000 Triumph Legend 900 TT
1968 Triumph T100C (my Dad's old bike)
Outside:
2006 MINI Cooper S
2004 MazdaSpeed MX-5 (just call the damn thing a Miata, Mazda)
Basement:
Most of another TR6, except the body and frame.
Spare motor and parts for the T100C.
I want an original Mini Pickup for some goofy reason.
