As the title says, any idea of what a 2004 Ford F250 Superduty is worth? Specs as follows:
Diesel 6.0.
4x4 (FX4 package).
Lariat.
Crew cab and short bed.
Tow package.
Twin batteries/alternators.
Engine block heater.
130k miles most of them in South Florida with 3 trips to Vermont in the last three years. Lived in Vermont from April to October and has seen very little snow. Sleeps in a heated garage when up there.
No rust
Stock? Bullet proofed?
Some places that's a 12k truck other places it's a 20k truck.
I agree on the aspects of where you are trying to sell it. So, where will you advertise it?

Northern truck, undesirable motor, its on the low end of whatever it would sell for here.
When i was shopping, 6.0 ford trucks were worth half of a comparable cummins and about 65% of a dmax. I'd consider ebay as you might expose it to people who think it's worth more than wherever you are located.
If buying, unless documentation of bulletproofing is at hand, treat it like a grenade

Whatever you can pay someone to take it off your hands.
I'm not trying to be "That Guy", but there are very few buyers willing to buy a 1st model year 6.0L. I wouldn't even buy it if it was allegedly "bullet proofed", because there are dozens of variations of what people call bullet proofed, and many of them are unsatisfactory.
The low mileage doesn't even help it. That might just mean it is a survivor that was never bullet proofed (which is bad- it could need it right away).
KBB says $10K. Bulletproofing could easily cost $5K. Unless there was extremely detailed documentation of the bullet proofing, I would assume it has NOT been done (because very few people will drop $5K on preventative maintenance). And if it was perfectly documented, I'd still have to decide if I wanted to own a 6.0L.
These trucks are really tempting. They are cheap as dirt, and look terrific. I decided I don't want one, because one day I will need to sell it, and no one will buy.
I'd say no more than $8K. I've seen absolutely cherry ones for $6K.
(I have considered buying a perfect 6.0L, and budgeting to install a brand new 7.3L when it failed)

Are you buying or selling?
In reply to SVreX:
2003 was the first year, I owned one. Never again. Like you mentioned, the low miles does not help it at this point because it's right at the miles where it needs work. I sold mine for $5500 2 years ago and that took 6 months. I had proof of $7500 or so being spent on it in the last 3 months/1500 miles and still struggled to sell it.
If you're selling, sorry. If you're buying, run.

2003.5 was the first half-year. 2004 was the first full model year.
7.3L's were available in 2003.
Very good info guys.
A few answers:
I am not buying or selling. The truck belongs to a friend of mine and he asked me if I knew what it was worth. I dont know the truck market so I thought I ask you guys.
He is the original owner.
The truck was purchased in south Florida and lived all its life here.
I dont even know why I mentioned the Vermont part, treat it as a Florida car. He owns a farm up there and goes there for the summer. The truck has not been driven in salt.
What is bulletproofing a 6.0? I have no idea if this has been done or not, I will ask.
I do know that it has Rancho shocks and some meater tires on the stock wheels. Not a brodozer, looks stock.
He is trading it in on a new diesel Ford and I thought maybe he can do better selling it to someone other than the dealer.
I will post pictures this week when I see it.

I think it is likely he may do better trading it to the dealer. It's a weird anomaly.
I'd buy. Cash, but only at a really deep discount.

Fully bullet proofed would include:
Some people JUST replace the EGR (which was damaged from overheating caused by the plugged coolant lines from the oil cooler) and call it "bullet proofed". This will fail again.
Some people also replace the head studs and call it "bullet proofed". Proper head stud replacement requires lifting the cab off the chassis. It IS possible to replace the studs without lifting the body by tightening them a teeny bit at a time while lowering the heads. It is NOT, however, possible to properly seat the heads and torque them this way. The shortcut is often taken.
Unless ALL of the above items are completed (and completed properly), the truck is not fully bullet proofed. Since this is impossible to prove, the general opinion of the 6.0L is very low.
My opinion is the only documentation I would trust is dealer documentation, probably after a failure. Note that a dealer would not use the better after market parts (like ARP studs). Even with perfect documentation, the next buyer won't believe me, so the truck is still worth less.
If it had been bulletproofed, he would have mentioned it. I'd bet he has no idea what we mean. I agree with Paul, he will actually do better trading it. Many Ford dealers turn them into lot trucks (plow trucks up here)
As I mentioned before I sold mine for $5500, and that was actually a trade in number. I had it on Craigs List for $6,000 for months with no bites figuring someone could use a cheap truck. It is now the plow truck for said dealer.
It is also at the miles where it will need injectors, add another $2000 to the bill.
Unfortunately it is a truck that will need @$5-6000K of work to make it a reliable truck. If you put that much into it and have receipts, you now have a nice $10k truck.
I agree on the bullet proofed issues. Recently ran into a guy with an 05 that had just spent 5k on bullet proofing and it was acting like it was having head gasket issues. I bought a 7.3 to avoi8 the 6.0 and 6.4 problems. I like the ford overall. Dodge only has an engine. The rest of the truck is horrible and the duramamax sucks but has a great tranny. Ford splits the difference. Problem is your truck, if rust free is best marketed to the rust belt and the 6.0 should be marketed to Ford guys. The value is in who did the work and not what was done.
I had an 06 f250. 100% stock never had any major issues from the original owners to me. But, from what it seems the 06/07 trucks are the one to have.
Meanwhile, if it was a 7.3, it would be worth close to 20k.
As a Powerstroke Diesel owner, sounds like this one would be great for a Cummins swap, but its gotta be priced in the bottom of the range to be something most people would consider.
Perfect truck would be a superduty with a cummins and an allison.
Thanks for all the advise guys.
Its gone, $5k to a friend. Off to south Dakota it goes. New F250 SD King Ranch diesel coming in this week.

5k certainly is cheap. Enjoy the new truck!
