After having lots of conversations with friends & family (mostly wife) about the value of the CVCC with the D16Z6 swap, I thought I would ask the group that would have a good idea- Or at least interesting opinions.

People at Cars & Coffee's talk about the topic also.

My wife really likes the car but knows the 100's of hours spent working on it.

First off, beautiful car. I had a second gen and loved it, and this is above and beyond that in every way.

For typical FB/Craigslist buyers I would imagine this listing at 6-7k, and selling for 4500-5500?

I think on BaT or similar site with higher visibility you'll catch a lot more attention. I'm still not sure how high it will go - I don't know values of the early cars well enough.

I'm of no help to you for your question, but I can add this:

That thing is incredible!

I bet that would be a blast to drive. As a huge Honda fan, I'd be seriously tempted if I had extra money in my pocket.

I don't have enough expertise to give you an idea of what it should be worth, but I know there are plenty of people out there who would be interested.

You could find out with a no reserve BAT auction.

I like it a lot. I personally would stop at around $5000 if I was in the market. But if two people wanted it, I could see it getting into five figures.

Sweet car! Do you need to know the value because you're planning on selling it, or for agreed value insurance? The two are often different values.

I can tell you that a few years ago I was looking for a 1st gen Civic. A good one in good condition and stock will be hard to find under $7-8k.
When I say good condition I mean no rust and all the stock part in place.
Yours looks to be in great shape body-wise but missing a few key parts; like the wheels, seats, mirrors and possibly the wood rimmed steering wheel. I think those are negatives, the engine on the other hand I don't see as a negative or positive as long as its a properly executed swap.
I know this car was built to suit your taste and therefore the mods, but if you had the stock parts I would put them back and ask for $10k. The CRX wheels I am not a fan of on this car, I would rather have some period correct aftermarket wheels.

That is definitely a candidate for a no reserve BAT auction, for sure. Beautiful car and BAT has the kind of readership that would be into it.

Doesn't really seem to be a large market for them, BAT would be a good option.

This one sold on ebay for $7500

$3500 is where my ears would perk.

I realize that's not BAT price. I'm not interested in BAT prices.

I just sold a ton of 1G CRX stuff that was probably "worth" $3k to the right person(s) for $500. I didn't want to fool with finding the "right person" or selling each little part individually.

Similarly, my brother just sold a bunch of ex-challenge CRX's, a complete IT car, and stack of motors, parts, etc to a guy we met at the Challenge for $3500. Not BAT price, but a nice little chunk of change to clear the project pile.

Also: The car looks rad, and I'm sure it's a blast to drive!!! The phone dials are a really nice touch!!!

My first car was a 1200 “sedan”.  I’d rock this . . .

If you're within a reasonable driving distance from western Pennsylvania, I'd be very interested in buying this car.
