I’m just curious.

Someone get me a $700 miata with a hardtop so i can sell the top and get to work with a full $2019 and you’ll have an answer next October
I think I did it in about 21 seconds when the shifter wouldn't go into third until the fourth try.
Oh, you meant the record in the other direction...
14.72 with a Jackson Racing supercharger on an otherwise stock NB engine, and I didn't really launch with abandon either. There may have been a touch more in it, but not much.
In reply to Dusterbd13 :
If you can pull off a high eleven second pass I'll be re-evaluating power train choices for my build. A V6 would be an easier fit .
The Mumpkin did 13.6, with a 1.6 second 60’.
It launched like a beast, but ran out of steam at the end. Never broke 100 mph.

It sounded glorious too
Lots more than $2000 ;)

Again, more than $2000 - but the engine fits under the hood, it has all the mod cons, it's on normal street tires and a normal road surface with no VHT.
11.7 seconds in the quarter.

Going to second this. I think the next closest was GA Tech in 2010, and they were in the 12.8s.
Sounds like we’re saying the Mumpkin may have been the fastest with an original motor, but the V8 ones have done much better.
Use the ND V8 as a target for the V8s, you guys should be able to match it. Part of the trick is probably the Positraction diff, it works well.
I have to think a well built turbo four could get into the 11s if set up by someone like wheels, especially on the juice. We've had FM II customers in the 12s.

2003 Mongrel Miata 12.564
2010 Wreck Miata 12.88
all others were 13+.

If by we you mean you, then yes. The question was quickest Challenge Miata.

I knew it was 12.56 with a 4. I just didn't want to sound like that much of a Mongrel fanboi or Challenge nerd. Alas, I am both.

You are home, relax!

Ummm... right. It was MY question.
I think that our first 5.0 Miata went 13.7 and the second 13.2.
The first had no clutch so the launch was via the starter.
The second was traction limited and started making a noise on the third run so we parked it. Turned out to be loose bolts. I'd imagine slicks and maybe some preperation would help. The car first started the night before the event on the trailer so the carb and timing were set by ear.
