Just was wondering about the absolute least expensive way to acquire a new vehicle, any car or truck, in 2016/17

I saw a Chevy truck ad tonight and noticed the holiday rebate was equal to the price I paid for a new Ford Ranger years ago.

Well, The Mitsubishi mirage is running 12,8K for the basic with rebate. The Versa sedan is under 12K now a days. That's the 2 cheapest I can think of.

Chevy sells a Spark for $12k dead (including rebates, but before negotiations). You might be able to knock off another grand, getting a brand new car for $11k + destination and taxes.

Find a leftover Spark, Mirage, Fiat 500. As I was doing a broad brush sweep of convertibles on Autotrader, I came across a brand new 2015 Fiat 500c convertible with an asking price under $12k, I'll bet you can buy it for just north of $10k...for a brand new convertible with a warranty.

Ford Fiesta 5 speed This is another option on cheap cheap new cars. Usually with Ford one of the rebates they are giving deals with financing the car, need to wait 3 months to pay it off but after destination and dealer charges you could probably be in one for 10k.

no one wants them.... so that $9999 price is probably highly negotiable.

Chevy advertises $9500 off sticker on trucks........for 2016 models.

My chevy guy only has 2017 trucks.

It got me into the dealer though.

Is that $8500 Fiesta real?

Seems like lease pricing as in like $8500 and you have to give us the car back in 3 years.

8500 / 36 months = $236 per month.

8500 / 48 months = $177

Is the question "Cheapest way to finance?" or "Cheapest new car available?"

Well, i was shocked that Chevy was rebating more than my first new truck actually COST (in 1988).

It seemed like things are out of control and made me wonder if there are any vehicles today that (shockingly/humorously) cost what some REBATES currently are.

Lo and Behold, it's still possible!

They are knocking $15k off Vette's as well, at least they had been the last few weeks.

That is a killer price. I wanted one until I looked at the dash. Who the hell does Ford get to design this stuff?

The biggest negative I see about those are the roller skate wheels on them.

That list of "additional options" on the Fiesta leaves me curious.

Could be wording since most of that stuff is standard equipment.

From the pictures, that Fiesta has no cruise control.

The cheapest Versa and some Koreans dont give you cruise as even a line item option on the cheapest models. One of the Koreans even has AC as optional

I just had a Versa as a rental car. I seems specifically designed to make people hate driving and switch to public transportation. What an awful driving experience.

Fiesta hatchback I'd at least step up to the hatchback. When I search autotrader for new cars under 11k within 100 miles I get 200 result.

Personally I'm really tempted to get a fiesta st listed at 15.8k+ delivery and get rid of my mustang.

There's a good chance that Fiesta has every incentive included in the price thus showing a hilariously low price. The versa as dreadful as it is a vehicle, it's also dirt cheap. I walked out the door for $11K I get 35 MPG and more space than I know what to do with. I easily fit 2 large buckets, 2 large crates, 4 1 gallon water jugs and a big shop vac for my mobile detailing and still have my back seat available.
