The most (and least) I have paid for a car is $1000. Granted, it is my first car, but I want to know how thrifty, or spendy you have been.

I think I paid $30,500 OTD for my 2013 Mustang GT with the Track Pack.
I think $27,500 for the '15 BRZ I have now.
My wife paid about $32,000 for '15 loaded Grand Touring Mazda 6.
I have a 2004 Malibu I got for free from my Grandmother when she stopped driving.. that was the cheapest as it did not need more than Tax paid and gas.
Most expensive was the Hyundai Tiburon I bought new in 1999.. $16,000
Let's see, I paid 24,500 for the ms3 brand spankin new (It was one of the first anywhere, no one was dealing, and it's a GT) and I traded a 100$ Taurus for my Jeep, then crushed the Jeep for 250$? so cheapest one paid me 150$.
The most was for my wife's Mazda 3 at $22,000 but I had to have the new skyactive engine and it was the first year for it.
The least was this 2001 BMW 525i at $1000, I have about $1000 in repairs done to it, and it's almost done.
My first car wasn't even that cheap. I payed $1500 for it back in '98, it was an '87 Nissan Maxima.
I bought a 2002 WRX for $750.
I paid $31500 for our 2012 Explorer.
If we can count two wheels - 77 Yamaha RD 400 - $30 - it was mostly in boxes though!!!
In the early 80's I offered a guy $50 for a brand new set of snow tires. He told me only if I took the 4 door maverick they were on too.It ran and I drove it for at least a year that I remember anyway.
Dozens under $1K, three or four for free, the most was a brand new 1997 Subaru WRX around $40K, yeah cars cost more downunder
Most - Sticker for my new 2007 Mazda 6S 5-door was like $23k I think. I financed it though. Least - first car $12,000 for a '99 Taurus with 39k miles on it in 2000.
Although in college I won an ebay auction for a '90 Isuzu Stylus for $450 I think. But the seller didn't want to take an out of state check and I didn't want to carry cash and I didn't really want the car that badly and he didn't really want to let it go that cheap, so we just agreed to cancel the deal.

How in the blue berkeley did you get a WRX fr $750?
Datsun1500 wrote: A few for free, a good amount for $500-$1000, on the cheap end. The most for a regular driver was $90k (Lexus SUV), the most for any car was $235k. The most I went to before saying no? $1.3MM. Hell of a swing huh? I think others here can beat the $235k though.
Holy crap, $235k? Tell us more!
cheapest was a 50 dollar 86 Bonneville 4 door that went straight too scrap. Cheapest I drove was a 100 dollar 84 grand marquis, lady couldn't afford gas too move it and it was marked for tow away. Most was 1100 for a 91 rodeo xlt. I usually don't buy anything that costs more then a grand for myself. wife paid 8900 for an 04 ion back in 06 before we were married.
15 dollars for a rolled mirage They wanted the gas money back. I used it as a yard car for 2 years until I killed it in a mud hole. 5000 for my 01 f350 truck.
What can I say, until I cant work on them I wont pay a lot.
I just bought a 95 or 96 TA for 500.
$ Free (several) and $18k S2000
I hope to stay in the low end - middle of that range from now on. Expensive enough that I'm not buying a piece of crap, and cheap enough that I don't feel the need to have full coverage and I'm not missing out on the time value of the money.
Most = '05 Focus ST for $12,000 (for myself and the wife)
'02 Peon for $2,800 (family car)
'01 Burban for $5,000 and a Peon (family transport)
'05 Outback 3.0R for $7,000 and a Burban (wife's stealth wagon)
First = haggard '82 Thunderchicken for $200 (didn't fix anything on it and drove it 'till it died... took about 6 months)
'85 RX7 GSL with a seized 12a for $50 (pushed from my neighbor's garage to my garage, while he was drinking and making engine sounds)
'97 Impreza with a locked up EJ18 for an '85 RX7 GSL and $250 (dropped off with a tow truck)
'92 Legacy engine, brakes and suspension donor for $300 (dropped off with a tow truck)
'87 Mark VII LSC for $300 (drove it home)
'92 Mark VII LSC for $0 (I had left a note on the windshield and the owner called saying it had brake and transmission issues, asking if I wanted it. Drove it home.)
