2005 Mazdaspeed Miata, one of something like 365 made in the Lava Orange color...Which is as rare as it gets for me.

My87 RX7 Turbo2 was the cleanest, lowest mileage, most beautiful car I've owned. Totally regret selling it. Now an 85 corolla gts hatchback and hardtop, my current project.

A lot of it depends on how specific you want to get on the option packages. My second Audi (B6 S4 Avant) probably qualifies -- wagon, V8, manual transmission. Supposedly 656 of that combo sold in the US in 2004, with a couple hundred more in 2005.

I have two.

First is my 2005 Mazdaspeed MX5. That year they only made 1428 Mazdaspeed Miatas and out of those only 394 were Lava Orange in color.

My Mini is one of 351 home market 1964 1275cc Austin Mini Cooper S, so it is slightly more rare, however, it no longer has the original body shell, so I'd count my Miata as the rarest car I own, but the Mini is the rarest VIN I own.

My dad has another of the ~100, at least I think it is that same blue.

Sorta rare cars for me: 99 Miata Hard-S, and a Saab 92X Aero aka Saabaru. Both in the driveway today.

Production.... The rarest... likely my 1969 TVR Vixen S2... not sure how many were actually built. My 1970 Mach1 with the 428SCJ was one of 2671....

but.......

my current ride is the rarest... only one of its kind anywhere in the world... 170hp 4AGE powered, 6 speed equipped, AE71 Corolla Sport Coupe with 4 wheel disc brakes.

1991 Prelude. What makes it rare is the "SE" trim level...only offered in Canada, only in 1991. What it meant was both the ALB and 4WS option packages plus leather interior. You couldn't get leather in any other trim, and the ALB (abs) option was not available with 4WS - normally it was one or the other. Supposedly less than 200 of them

If we don't get into specific option/color combos, my rarest is likely my '93 900 Commemorative Edition. I picked it up last year from the original owner and it's sitting awaiting restoration.

It runs and drives but really needs to be gone through completely.

If we go by colors and options, my '91 900SE convertible shouldn't exist at all in the color it's painted. Someone I trust says that he's seen one other, and I've never seen or heard of one. I personally didn't care about the color/options or even know it was an SE when I bought it, but it has all of the right options and the title and insurance company seems to agree.

Has anyone ever recognized the SCX for what it is?

A couple of people recognized it, a few had heard of it, or at least the W41 part.

I have a '67 Opel Admiral. There is supposedly one more of the same body style in the country.

I had one of the 650 or so '71 Opel Kadett 4-doors that were imported. The 4-door was only imported that one year.

I had two Datsun 610 hardtops and at the same time two Datsun F10s. Cumulative odds for that should make the combo pretty rare.

I used to have a '67 Kadette wagon, I always wondered how many of those made it to the US.

Hummm...I had a '86 SVO. Someone said it was 1 of 70ish in factory blue.

I also had a 1975 Fuel Injected Opel Manta that I put 50,000 miles on without any maintenance cost. That has to be 1 of 1.

My Volvo 1800ES. One of a bit over 8000 made during '72 and '73.

My '72 GT6 is one of ~13K, so not all that rare but I seem to remember about 7500 were made in '72.

I'm curious what the production number for US-market Jetta TDI wagons were. I doubt there were many.

Geez, I've had a ton of cars, can't think of anything super rare.

Maybe my '99 Dodge Viper GTS. Not a ton built and mine was all black with no stripes. Don't think many were built like that. Or my '04 GTO.

My 1980 280zx. Why is it rare? Its a slicktop, 5spd, no power anything car. Has manual steering, manual windows and no AC. Plus its rust free, which if you know old J-tin you'll know how rare that is.

I have a thing for owning rare cars. Let's see...

-Both my 1987 Cougar XR7's were kinda rare, and even rarer now. I haven't seen one in the flesh since 2000, when my last one left my driveway.

-My 1983 Camaro Z28 was optioned strangely. It had no A/C, but it did have the composite hood, a 5-speed, and T-Tops. I wish I kept that one.

-I had a 1979 10th Anniversary Trans Am, which with the Pontiac V8 and 4-speed, it was one of 1,817 built.

-My other T/A, which I still have, is also uniquely optioned. It is silver with a red Deluxe interior, the WS6 handling package, and no T-Tops. It had the 403 Olds/TH350 combo, and A/C, but no power windows or locks. Weird.

-Then there's my 1987 Shelby CSX. It's #115 of only 750 built. Not many are left today.

-My daily driver is kinda rare, I think. It's a 2012 Mazda 3 2.5S with a 6MT, and it is painted the extra cost Crystal White Mica. I would think the take rate had to be low on these, especially with the Skyactiv cars coming out a few months later.

1 of ~1200 Mazda 323 GTX, and a pair of awd 1990 Proteges that in that form might be more rare yet. But I bet my current ride is more-er rare-er than those. How many Merc E55's were turned into Brabus K8's? Well Brabus prolly knows but they ain't tellin...

'91 Spirit R/T, one of 1.208 made. Mine was red, IIRC the split was about 700 red and 500 white. They made like 250 the next year, some red, some white, and like 25 silver ones. I know where a silver one sits, but I don't think it can be bought.
