We are contemplating a run at the Chump car race there on December 14 and 15. Being from Southwest BC, I get my fill of racing in the rain. I can do that up here, so would rather not truck for 16 hours to race in the rain in California. Any locals here to give me a shot at a forecast?
Thanks.
Rain is definitely a possibility in mid-December, but not a guarantee. I'm sure there are stats somewhere, but I'd venture a guess that any particular random December day in Monterey has about a 30-40% chance of rain.
Yeah. I was going to say 1/4 - 1/3 chance of rain in December. Even if it does rain, it is unlikely to be really bad torrential downpour stuff. Monterey is a pretty decent place to be in December.
OK, well that sounds promising. How reliable would a forecast be a week out? Does weather come inland unexpectedly like it does here? A forecast in December is only reliable if they are predicting endless rain for us.
I'd say the forecast should be pretty decent. I'd pack the rain gear, but wouldn't expect continuous crap.
It's a chance to race at Laguna Seca. If it rains, it rains. I'd do it anyhow.
