Buddy from work says its a 2004, he says its an "S". It apparently was involved in an accident with a deer, which is why the colors of the panels look slightly different. The whole deer story scares me. He says it has about 45k miles. Oh, yeah, and for some reason he says he's having a hard time getting the top down.

I'm with Woody - around $4500 in parts. With the deer damage, is it a salvage or rebuild title? 2004 would have the weaker single row IMS bearing, so I'd want to check the oil filter for metal flakes before making an offer.

He thinks its a $7,500 car.

I'm thinking more like $3,500. Panel gaps for the front bumper look wonky, half the paint is mismatched, broken top. Add back $1,500 if there are receipts for IMS/clutch.

It's an S and it's a $7,500 car to anyone who doesn't know Porsches. The lowball crowd in here just wishes they could find unicorn Boxster S's with 45K on the clock.

Not sure what you mean exactly. I see a handful on Cincinnati craigslist and they're all a lot more (But some have rebuilt engines)but none say they have deer damage.

Panel gap bad, paint damaged on fender, headlights are fogged, top doesn't work .. It's a project car that will take a few grand to sort out.

Plenty of crashed cars out there, but if you're not reselling, how many years of use are you buying before it goes to LeMons?

The top of that front bumper cover is fastened directly to the chassis with screws. The panel gap would seem to indicate some structural damage.

Low mileage on a single row IMS bearing is not a good thing. It means that the bearing spent plenty of time at rest, marinating in oil crapped out by lots of short trips.

Just my $.02

I just bought a flawless '04 Boxster S 50 year 550 Spyder edition w/ 50k miles. The IMS issue was fixed by the Porsche dealer eating $20k for a new '05 replacement engine in 2010 and the P.O. paid for a new clutch while it was out, so 13k miles on the drivetrain. I paid $21.9k and felt like it was very fairly priced. It's a spectacular car to drive.
