Many of us have favorite cars from our childhood, but what about from the year you were born?
Bonus points if your choice is a first-year model.

Streetwiseguy said:1960 has nothing I would want to own, I'm afraid.
Different year but same feeling.
I'm claiming the NSX was 1989 because that's when it hit auto shows, even if you couldn't buy one until the next year:
1988 Ford Sierra RS500.
But I wouldn't hate a Lancia Delta HF Integrale, Skyline 2000 GTS-R, Peugeot 205 GTi or a Fiat Panda 4x4.
If I had to chose one actually available in the US, Civic Si.
Car introduced in 1988. Nissan S13
Picking from Wikipedia's list of cars from my birth year, RUF SCR.
BMW M1 would be a close 2nd then Donkervoort S7 3rd.
But I didn't realize the Vector W2 was as old as I am!
My standard answer to this has always been the 1970 Mustang Boss 302:
But lately, I've been reconsidering. The 1970 Miura certainly has it's charms:
The SVO is pretty sweet.
But regular four-eye Mustangs are also pretty cool.
But then again, the ASC Mclaren Mercury Capri was pretty awesome.
But of course, the rarest version of that would probably be the Detroit Grand Prix pace car replica edition.
Really, you can't go wrong with a foxbody from 1985.
1990 for me. The only car that I'm aware of off the top of my head as a First-Year model would be the Miata - which is the model year of course, as they came out in '89. But the Miata is a pretty good choice.
But I had some spectacular choices. Hell, there is a 1990 325i in my garage right now that would make a pretty damn good choice (side note, why do old German cars just smell better than any others?); we could do the E30 M3, the 190E 2.3-16, Acura NSX (was that a 91 model year or 90? It was available in 90), BMW 8 series... Not to mention the obvious Mustangs, Corvettes, Porsches, Firechickens, etc., that will always be cool.
Conceptually? The 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO. Awesome in it's own right, but from what I understand the basis for the f40 that came later.
In reality? My 1984 e30. It rolled off the assembly line in germany on the same day I was born. March 1st.
1955 Ford Customline 4 door Buckskin / White.
I have one but it was poorly painted a different color. My father had one in 2 tone green.
The one pictured is not mine but is the same year and the original colors
There's really only one sensible answer from 1974:
I guess the VW Scirocco gets an honorary mention though.
