That's one of the attractions of motocross. You can buy a competitive bike for a little more than $2k, entry is $25, and there are no rules.
For me it's all about the dirt.
I like the Lucas Oil off road series. I have a very big soft spot for IMCA Modified probably because they are so dead simple but still so fun. I built more than one of those in my life.

That I am aware of, snowmobiles have no other function but to crash, so adding a Z axis just makes a bad thing worse.

I will always love short course off road racing. Did that in the late 80's, early 90's. Met Robby Gordon, Al Unser( both sr. And jr. Driving the old Strohs Jeep pickups in Mickey Thompson). I also love NASCAR and am really digging v8 super cars.
