My father in law has a nice cement floor shop for the first time in his 62 years so I thought I'd get him a set of wheel dollies to put under one of his summer cars so he can move it well out of the way in the winter or out into the open to sit in and make engine noises if he wants to.
Any suggestions? The cars in question will either be a V6 third gen Camaro, which is fairly light, or a 48 Chevrolet 1 ton truck, which is not light in any way shape or form.

Harbor Freight makes some wheel dollies that are decent enough, but Go-Jacks would be the real solution. Look for a used set and save a few bucks.

I have the harbor freight ones and they work fine to move my Monte Carlo on a cracked concrete floor. The only advantage to Go-Jacks are they are self loading, and if you buy them used there is a good chance they will probably need to be fixed. I was lucky to get a year to 18 months out of a set when I did impounds.

A set of four of these HF dollies were the worst garage purchase I have ever made. At no point in using them will all the casters point the same direction so you are constantly fighting grinding metal against concrete or random direction changes.

On the other hand. We use go jacks at work and they are awesome.

The HF ones have been working fine for me for about 10 years.

The HF ones I have look heavier than them. They are diamond plate with out those little bars on them.

I have a few sets of the H-F ones. They work better if you take apart the casters and grease things up a bit.

I had a set of them but got rid of them. They weighed a ton and I was getting tired of moving them around the garage.

I have used the HF furniture dollies for my race car and they work fine. Their rated 1000 lbs per and since my car is only 2300 lbs I have no issues. I paid around $9 each with tax.
