I purchased a second set of BMW wheels to mount my R888s. I've learned that the four that I bought have two different offsets (25mm, and 47mm). The original wheels had an offset of 41mm all around. Argh -- would you run them? And if so, where would you put them (i.e. front and rear)?

Making a couple of assumptions - e36 chassis and reasonably sporty tire sizes - they probably won't fit, in the rear at least and maybe not in the front either.

What tire size?

Tire size is 245/40/17 all around. I did run the wheels over the winter with 225s all around.

The difference between 25 to 47 offset moves the tire about 1" outboard.

Most e36 cars with coilovers need to run a 10-12mm spacer in the front. Your wheel moves the tire roughly twice that amount. My guess is that they will probably work on the front, given adequate spring rates.

You might get away with it in the rear with some fender rolling, but I frankly doubt it. 245/40 x 17 on a 41 offset wheel will fit the rear, maybe with some light fender rolling. 255s will fit with moderate fender rolling and the same offset.

Using the calculator linked above, plug in your proposed wheel/tire combo and see where that puts the outside edge of your tire in relation to the hub, then compare it to the known fitment values.

EDIT - I read your original post more carefully. Try the 25 offset in the front and the 47 in the rear. That might work. But you won't be able to rotate them front to rear.
