so i ordered a set of wheels from summit in the middle of january. i was not informed they were out of stock. was told a day or two later that they would be shipping within a week, as soon as they arrived from wheel vintiques. then it was moved to the end of febuary. theyn april the 8th. so i called yesterday, and was told theyd be shipped today. just checked for my shipping notification, and instead found my notification that they will ship 5/28/13.

im about at the end of my patience. ive got a car blocking up my bay now, that has no wheels. a set of tires i already purchased for the wheels i dont have. a set of lugs and studs for the wheels i dont have. a painter thats waiting so he can respray the wheels i dont have.

is it too much for people to actually make and sship parts??? this is not summits fault. you cant ship parts that arent made. so this is a supplier issue from wheel vintiques. i really want the wheels, as they fit the build style perfectly. i DO have a set of z06 vette wheels that i can make work, but they dont look right on a 64 el camino, and need tires before being usable. but i have this thing blocking a bay that is needed for paying jobs, which are backing up because suppliers are not getting me parts when they say they will. im still waiting on my stoptech brake lines i ordered a month ago. i have never had thios trouble before, and ive been in busness since 01. at least its on my own stuff....

so what would GRM do? cancel the wheel order and use the z06 wheels? drive to wheel vintiques and kick someones ass? wait it out and pray they get here this year? find used tires for the z06 wheels, and wait for the good wheels?

sorry for the rant. really pissed in my corn fklakes first thing this mornig.

Unfortunately it seems this is becoming more common with suppliers. In the past WV has been pretty good, so I don't know what is the hold up is now. Unless the wheels are special from WV, I would find something else and cancel them. Should be plenty of choices out there.

there are plenty of choices, but what i really wanted was a 16X8 rally with 5 inches of backspacing. be even happier with 5.5

my tire guy said hed take the tires back without even a restock fee.

so, i think im gonna slam the z06 wheels on there after finding soem cheap/used 275/40/17's, and get to cutomer cars. ill decide if i want to cancel my order prior to their ship and get my money back. maybe the z06 wheels will grow ion me.....

Have you contacted Wheel Vintiques? Might be worth giving them a call, maybe they're willing to let you know what's going on. Not all supplier issues are...

ill try that later today before going too much further. hopefully your right.

im just frustrated and whatnot. shouldnt have these problems. i need a bigger shop too, so that way when this happens again im not so stressed. maybe a walled in pole barn with doors.....

I hear you, I had a few frustations with suppliers on my Miata build also so I know exactly what you are talking about.

What's the cheapest possible way to get the car on rolling stock, even if it's only fit for rolling the car out of the way?

Just wondering whether you could free up that bay for $40 in junkyard wheels, if the actual completion/delivery of the car isn't a flaming deadline... Not sure whether you have any place to put it if it did roll...

Hope this isn't a "thing" with WV... I have my eye on a set of their wheels for the Ranchero...

ive got to have at least 16s to clear the brakes. the z06 wheels will clear, and i can just throw some maypops on it to get it movable and stuffed down in the woods. the elky is a personal car, so no deadline on it except for that i need a truck to buy some plywood. other than that, i can use te acr or wagon for getting stuff.

Have you upgraded the brakes to the point where 14 or 15 inch wheels will no longer fit? Because I would expect that you could find some stock GM wheels for cheaper than putting tires on those Corvette wheels. I see lots of 16" 4th gen (and late 3rd gen) F-body wheels with tires for cheap that would at least get you rolling.

I agree that the Z06's probably aren't the right long-term solution for your El Camino. I have also been looking at aftermarket wheels for a domestic "muscle" car and a lot of the modern, spindly stuff just doesn't look right.

Does anyone other than WV make 16 inch Chevy Rally replicas? Year One has replicas of a lot of other "muscle-car era" wheels in modern sizes, what do they have?

just got off the phone with wheel vintiques. they sear they are drop shipping them to me by the end of the week. stated that they are being made today, and that they are so far behind due to their supplier delays.

for those planning to order from them, plan on not getting your stuff for a long time. dont expect them quickly, or block your bay entirely without wheels.

as a side note, ive got a set of 275/40/17 maypops coming later this week for my z06 wheels. this thing WILL be on the ground and out of my bay this weekend. even if it only being pushed.
