Looks like I'll be running a 245/40 18 or there about on this wheel.

This is the lightest forged/flow formed wheel I could find. Under 20 pounds, under $200. Motegi Tracklite. 18x9.

The tire is going to get autocrossed, tracked, and driven spiritedly.

What's the hot tire that won't age out instantly and can stand the abuse that a 3500 pound car is going to dish out?

I have over 5,000 road miles on my Re71s on my 4,000 lb 1990 Infiniti Q45.  Those miles include 1,000 miles each way to The Challenge.  In addition to that there was autoxing and drag racing both before The Challenge and after.

At 5,000 miles they are not warn out.

Basically any of the weaponized 200TW tires are going to be right.  They will put up with the abuse and should age out when they wear out with your use.  The RE71R is the stickiest, but fastest wearing, while the Hankook RS4 is the longest lasting, but not the least sticky.

Yeah, I'm going to be running in STU, so 200tw will be required.

Does anyone like the Falken Azenis? They are a 200tw. We've run them on the Lemons Civic a good bit with success? How are they are autocross?

I'd say RE71's and don't look back. Best performance for the dollar.

The Falken RT615K+ or whatever don't have the same grip, but will not wear as fast.

I am running Nitto NT01s in the same size, but I only track, not autocross. So far the wear has been really good, which is why the tire guys recommended them over the usual autocross tires.

I can't add too much on the exact tire, but I've been supremely happy with every Kumho and Toyo tire that I've owned.  I wouldn't hesitate to put Ecsta V720s or Proxes R1Rs on it.

RS4s are the tire to get for a heavy car.

Anyone have experience with these? Considering these for fun street use on the 964.

I am running the T1 sports on my Mustang, four years and several HDPE's later I'm happy with them.  My lap times keep getting faster each year even as the tires are getting older so they must not be aging too bad, or I'm just getting better.  They are stored on the car on the ground in Michigan so not exactly the best situation either.

They were supposed to be the best blend of traction 240 TW and comfort for road trips.  I'm going lower on the TW scale next time or I would be tempted to buy them again.

Toyman how did the Traklites work out for you?

I have been pretty happy with them.

I ended up running a 275/35R18 instead of the 245s I originally planned on running. After several sets of Re71Rs, they just got wrapped in a new set of Federal 595RRs for next season.
