I remember being on this forum before the '08 reboot but, I don't remember what year I joined. For some reason I'm thinking '03 but, I've taken a lot of blows to the head and been rebooted to factory settings at least once, so I don't trust my memory all that much. I was definitely on Solo2.org back in '03 but, sadly it no longer exists.
Also once again it struck me just how amazing this community is. I've joined a few overlanding forums, a machining forum, and a couple of boxing/powerlifting forums but, nothing compares to GRM.
This site has been a big part of my life for a very long time. One of these years I'll actually compete in the challenge. LOL
A long time ago in a far away place... Wait. That was a different thing.

I've been here for 25-years as of either next month or September, and it had been around for a while prior to that!
Edit: that would have been 1998, so sometime prior to that.
On the seventh day, God awoke from his rest, looked down and thought, "These little meat sticks need some entertainment".
I know I've been on here since at least 05-06?
You might be a GRM-OG if...
1. You know that Noel is not just a Christmas greeting.
2. You know how many Per you get per forum?

I joined in 2003. It was well established at that point.

You might be GRM-OG if you know more than 1 person named A. Nelson, and they're both cool people.
The GRM $1,500 Challenge of 1999 started as an article idea that was spoke of on the GRM forum where people were invited to attend.
The first GRM $2,000 Challenge held in 2001 was the product of forum chatter from those who missed or wished they had attended the $1,500 Challenge.
What ever happened to the clown? Haven't seen Guido on here in a long time.
Via the Waybackmachine, this is the oldest screen shot they have. That doesn't mean it's the first ever page, just the oldest they have archived.

Notice near the bottom that Jerry Stein has "Thoughts on the Challenge" Is that the same Jerry Stein?
I think 2004 for me... before the Dork replaced it's predecessor.
I've can remember when there was only one forum category and when they started a for sale (or for some of you: "for sell" ) category and another one, but I can't remember what the other one was. My initial forum name was "stansmr2", but had to change it after I put my MR2 up for sale and one of the staff asked me if I was going to change it to "stans1300" if it sold. Years ago for sure...
It was before 1999, that's for sure. I joined sometime in the 98-99 time frame, and had considered a $1500 challenge car. I found out about GRM the magazine from a friend, and shortly found the web page.
Posters have come and gone, but the tone and whatnot hasn't much.
The discussions about the challenge being legit started before the $1500 challenge happened, and then escalated after Guido won. Child labor and all.

Ah yes, when Harold Thong graced us of shots of his masculinity while holding a YZ exhaust pipe.
I found this site back when it was in another format. I started following a woman who was racing/building a Ferrari? Then she had a falling out and was banned or left. I signed up some time after that because I found myself visiting quite often. Who was that member?
What does everyone think of SUV's?
I think they suck.

I've been on since around 2001. I asked a question and Keith Tanner answered. I didn't know who he was at that time. I actually had a printout of that, but can't find it.
