I know there are aftermarket and custom 6 door trucks already, but when will we see production ones?
Think about it, people loooove 3 row SUV/CUVs. Minivans are not getting any more popular. It seems the time is right for somebody to make an OEM 3 row truck. I can see Ram doing it. Extend the Megacab back and add a set of suicide doors like extended cab trucks use behind the rearward full size door. As soon as that starts selling and proving the demand, you jump up to 6 full size doors. Base it off the 1500, keep the length to the current crew/short and I bet they would sell like 4 door Wranglers. Sure the bed would be crew cab S10 size but I bet the market wouldn't care. Thoughts?
I hope it never happens. Why would it? We have full size vans. You can get a 6 passenger truck. Regular family is 4 people. Minivan is as much for stuff and pets as it is for people. Current batch of full size trucks are getting stupid large and the race for more capacity is crazy. They will be rigs eventually.
I would buy one...
Currently have a 17 tundra crew max and would love to have a 3rd row. X2 car seats take up a whole row
I've looked at almost every three-row SUV out there, and many have absolutely abysmal third row access. Even so, I really don't see much of a market for 6-door trucks. I know I wouldn't buy one, and I'm very much a fan of large vehicles for family haulers.

The new expedition tows as much as an F150 why do you need a 3 row truck? I heard from uber drivers that the expedition was the best 3 row because it had captains chairs in the second row which made for easy access to the third row bench
new trucks are stupid huge as it is IMO. a f150 of years past is about the same size as a colorado now. One ton trucks are ridiculously huge.
There really is a market for small pickup trucks, i really like my Ranger for most tasks
Our company owner has a 6 door 2017 F250 4x4 done by Supertrucks. It's nearly 23 feet long and it's a short bed. It's cool looking and absolutely useless. He can't even park it in a normal space.

Interesting idea. Not sure that people would like it though. Maybe on an SUV (Suburban), but probably not a pickup unless it is a Ridgeline/Avalanche style with a pass through.
In the end, I don’t think it solves any market problem. If you need to move people, get a minivan. If you need to tow, get a pickup. If you need to do both, get a Suburban. The kids can deal with climbing/crawling back there. Ultimately, such a vehicle would be either so huge or so useless (novelty pickup bed) that it’d be pointless.
There's a guy in my town with a 6 door longbed dually 70 chevy. It looks factory.
Doubt it is though. And its stupid long.
Why not just do a full size body-on-frame SUV with a third set of doors?

We just need to bring rear facing third row seats back.

I've wondered this since I was a kid, occasionally riding to school in the back seat of my neighbor's Suburban.
Amen to bringing back rear facing seats.
Do people still have 4+ kids anymore? I feel like the folks near my age are pretty much in the "berkeley that E36 M3" camp. 6 door truck seems unnecessary being as these full size SUV tow almost anything these days.
But, I am the guy driving my ONE kid to and from school in an excursion lol.
They should hinge the entire back half of the SUV off, like a monster truck.
well, my Disco was available with 7 person seating. The back door (it's not a hatch) swings open to allow access to the two jump seats that the HSE7 had. Even mine, without the 2 jump seats, still has the pull handle and the door handle for opening it from the inside
There was a custom shop in my hometown that did an early seventies suburban with a full 8' dually bed grafted behind it. It has sat out in front of his shop since I can remember, never seen it move. It's probably still there.
They do make 6 door conversions for the big SUV's.

That's cool, I didn't know those were available with 7 person seating! The town and country is a bit too boring and reliable..
Hmm....
Adding an extra set of doors to a full size SUV could accomplish the same thing, but then you wouldn't have the bed.
People want the bed, or the illusion of one. Im not suggesting this is something that would be popular with the GRM group, Im suggesting this would be a best seller with the general population. Here is a super realistic edited photo I made with PowerPoint. ![laugh laugh](https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/static/ckeditor/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/teeth_smile.png)

My old '06 F150 had four doors and only a 5.5' bed. I was always doing 'truck parking' as we started calling it. Pull through parking lot spots far away from other vehicles. I could only imagine if it was an 8' box or had another set of doors! Yowza! Pass. They only reason we would ever have for even a 4 door/ 8' box would be if my wife changed her mind and said we are doing long hauls with a horse trailer, but we ain't doin that.
if a 4 door hatchback or wagon is called a '5 door' then wouldn't a suburban or excursion with the rear barn doors technically be called a '6 door'?

I think you are on to something. And your rendering doesn't look half bad...

A couple of mini suicide doors over the rear wheel arches on a full size SUV could work. Make egress a little easier without needing to be messed with under normal 2 row use.

I think keeping the footprint the same as the crew/short is the key. I look at the picture and can see dozens of those sitting in parking lots at malls across America.
