I was servicing an 08 WRX hatch the other day, and I suddenly realised I had not seem a blue WRX with gold wheels for quite a few years. Ten years ago, they were everywhere.
Like Camaros were 25 years ago? Deprecated until a punk can afford it, then left in a heap of molten metal and rust, with doors that won't close anymore?
They all moved to Colorado.....Seriously

All the gold wheels got taken off and repainted and or stolen, and the wrxes got crashed and blwon up.
They're all at Ft. Bragg, they're all tuned to within a sliver of detonation and running open exhausts.
A Subaru of that vintage should be getting pretty rusty and on its 2nd or 3rd owner by now.
They all ran out of head gaskets.
Coincidentally, one passed me on the freeway just yesterday. The first one I've seen in quite a while.
guy that lives down the street has one, along with a 2018 STI, a hawkeye sedan thats modded and an Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio.

Yes.
I personally sent two Bajas to the crusher. One ate its bottom end and had a massive oil leak after the 80 grit oil destroyed the front crank seal, the other D-chunked an exhaust valve.
I remember ten years ago Craiglist was full of 2 liter WRXs with burned valves for $2000 or less.
Probably the first Subarus since the mid 80s that got scrapped from engine failure before body rot.

Speaking of EVOs... don't see those on the road anymore either. I think a combination of head gasket failures and easy financing to young drivers who crashed them conspired to make them rarer than a WRX.
I knew this would happen when I made the original post.... I was out for a cruise last night, and I saw a really nice looking blue WRX with gold wheels.
Wife was just saying how much she misses the 04 2.5rs we used to have. Replaced it with a mazda5 and she's not happy.

They all got modified to the point where they aren't road cars.
There are lots of stripped out Evos sitting on jackstands getting turned into "race cars" it is disgusting.
And find a stock Evo. Or try to, anyway. You can't.
I'd love to have an IX but the number of stock examples is zero.
