2002 Protege5, 5 month old caliper, flex line dry (no leaks), bleeder no leaks, looks dry everywhere but (oddly enough) the lug that holds the spring that releases the e-brake is wet and drips when the pedal is pumped. I figure its leaking from above it but all looks dry above it! Wth?

That spring shaft leaked on my redline.......it means you need to replace it. Even with new and reman ones, it is possible to get a bad one(which it sounds like you did)

Wow, really! I'm relieved and frustrated at the very same moment! Thanks for the help!

In my experience, they always, and I mean always, leak from the inside out.

Just a general curse-out to P5 rear calipers. Man, they are unreliable.

if it's the same as miata and probe gt, there's a bolt (plug?) with a crush washer that goes into the back of the caliper, which allows access to the piston retraction screw. if they think a crush washer is required, it must be a potential leak path.
