Basically the title. I have been out a few years and I'm ready to get back in. I wanted to check and verify that they were still having it within a reasonable distance, but when I looked online I couldn't find any record of events happening in 2023 besides way over on the WV line, or in WV. Am I just missing it, or are there no events on the western half of the state anymore? Indiana or southern Michigan would work too.

We've done a couple events up at Joe's Speedway in Adena, OH as well as over in WV. In fact, the next event - which I think is an OVR points event but actually put on by the WV region - is this Saturday! It's a pretty nice site, and slightly closer than Adena...
Yea, pretty much not in Ohio anymore unfortunately. Detroit region is likely closest for you. The site in WV is a lot of fun.
Closer to you, perhaps
Adena is techically closer to me than National Trails was, but NTR was a straight shot down 71, around a quarter of 270, a little bit across 70, and then two left turns. Adena is twelve kinds of confusing to get to with all of the different state routes and bypasses and goat trails and even my GPS can't find it, I had to have someone text me a latitude/longitude that I could enter...
The SWVR site is almost exactly the same distance for me as Smoke & Mirrors was - 225mi. For me it is a straight shot down I-77. Route 33 from Columbus runs real close to the site where it links up with I-77. It takes me a little over four hours to get there including fuel/food/potty breaks, a bit over five if I stop in Columbus on the way (going 71 to Columbus to 33)
Detroit region isn't running very far south anymore, I don't think. They used to run at a site in Ohio, near the MI border quite a ways west of I-75, but Fowlerville and Adrian are long off the menu, I don't know if they even run at I-96 anymore. Which sucks because I have Hoosiers for the RX-7 and I really want to try them there, and part of my Vision for "Colin" involves launching off of the banking from the outfield to the infield at I-96. That was a ton of fun in teh Miata and I got serious brake dust hauling down from 8000 in 2nd when I had my '81 there...
Their "new" site in Clio looks like a complete blast, but I don't feel like driving that long for an event with 70 entrants. I'll drive two hours for a big event or I'll drive five hours for a 20 entrant event but not both.
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
They did run at I96 this year. The farthest away is Crystal Motor Speedway which is about dead center of the state, everything else is south or east of there. Several events were at Milan dragway between Toledo and Detroit which wouldn't be a bad drive at all.
Detroit region calendar
Nationals in Ohio was the best.
In reply to gearheadmb :
Crystal was an absolute blast in the winter, they allowed us to run on the banked dirt oval instead of just the side lot.
It was exactly one Slayer discography long to drive there
Is the Chilicothe fairground gone forever?

Possibly, I don't know the details but something made the site owners angry. It would be nice if we could get it back.
In reply to EvanB :
Eight blind men and an elephant, I heard that they wanted more money.
I'd pay a little extra to run at Ross County. The entry fee is not the majority cost of entering an event unless you live next door and are driving someone else's car.
Just for funsies, I checked MSReg and there is a Detroit day night event with registration at $60/one day, $80/both, and a DC Region event at $100/one day.

I'd find a cheap-ish car if the Fairgrounds came back. That was only 1.5hrs for me.
In reply to EvanB :
Rumor I heard was they charged the scca a site clean up fee, SCCA said no. And that was the end of that relationship.
Since the following question doesn't feel like it warrants it's own thread I will ask here. In modified class is a full body swap allowed? As in setting car body A on to completely different make and model chassis? The engine will still be in the front.
In reply to gearheadmb :
Are you speaking of a body on frame car, then?
There have been some pretty significant rule changes recently, one of them is that the main structure of the car cannot be changed.
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
So if you can plop the body on the frame without cutting up the trans tunnel and floor it's good?

The idea was mating a miata roller skate to a different small unibody car.

Pretty much. You can add metal to the shell and drill mounting holes but you cannot cut away from it.
IIRC there is a specific exemption for commercially available Civic AWD conversions because they add a lot more metal than is cut out and integrity is retained.
So I leave home at 4:30, get here, and... nobody here
Apparently the event was canceled on Wednesday and I did not get a notification.
At least the drive here was fun!

I'm sure this info's been discussed, but yeah Detroit Region currently run at I-96 in Lake Odessa, Auto City in Clio, and the Crystal Speedway in Crystal. We also run tarmac rallycross events in the winter at Milan, but because they're tarmac, it's more akin to an autocross with rallycross scoring/classing. Still a lot of fun and I like going to them, but they might not scratch the rallyx itch. The I-96 day/night event this year is coming up next weekend.
In reply to Jerry :
I mean, I was going to take first in PR anyway, right?
In reply to KevinLG :
Weekend after next, no?
