Hemi orange? Would make leaks easier to spot.....

Most definitely Hemi orange. Chrysler blue would also be acceptable.

For what it's worth, I spent the better part of 2 weeks detailing a 22RE. Looked absolutely stunning in red, black, and silver. It ate it's rod bearings 3 months later.

the recipient engine bay. Complete with an engine that has a connecting rod through the oil pan. I'm thinking black and aluminum because you can't really see the block anyway

if you are keeping it long term do your thing.  You seem to have a lot going on for a non retired person so get another item moved from the list to the done column and work on something that IS broken

PS you have so many Neons i dont know what is going where

The wrecked parts car (96) is donating the drivetrain and various other parts to the r/t (98, engine bay pictured). The blue acr is what i want to own long term, and will be a HUGE undertaking. The r/t will be my daily during that time, and maybe afterwards as my daughter wants it. Eventually, the aftermarket parts from the r/t eill go to the acr like originally planned. Just with more miles on them.....

I’ve never been overly tempted to paint an engine while apart. Actually that’s a lie, I did one. It’s been on a stand in my garage for 3 years. This leads me to believe I can either have running projects or pretty projects. I’ve always said I don’t have money to make my stuff fast and esthetically pleasing. So I just choose fast.*

* fast denotes faster than stock. Not actually fast by modern standards.

In my garage it usually ends up with a v8 where one was never intended to go

I vote for Hemi Orange, but I'm a bit biased:

White would get dirty too quick. Blue would match the stripes and the squiggles on the interior, but Orangewood show leeks better ...

I'm going to say a very Cousin Eddie thing.

While you're waiting on the parts to arrive from Rockauto, you might as well drop all of the external engine pieces at the powdercoaters and all of the hardware at the plating shop to be freshened up.

I bought a car with a white block, it got dirty looking at it.

The "while I'm in there..." problem is why I haven't started on renovating my house.  It wouldn't be hard for that rabbit hole to lead to just knocking the house down and starting over.

But for car projects, I've been known to go there...  Back in 2005/06 when a simple auto to manual transmission swap starts out with:

Since the engine is out, may as well clean it...

And give it a coating in POR15:

Then paint it with POR15 Ford Red Engine paint (it actually IS red and not pink):

Why not drop the front cross member and clean that up too...

Have to clean the engine bay too:

Nobody will see it, but let's paint the transmission too.

With all of these clean parts, even a clean engine bay just wouldn't do, so a make-shift paint booth was constructed.

Then the engine bay was completely stripped of all wiring, prepped, POR15 applied to rust areas, etching primer applied, and then a few coats of 108 Grean:

Reassembly starts...

Engine and M41 transmission mated:

...and installed.

And it's done.  Won best foreign car at its first show.

That is not the proper approach for this project. However as I've been stripping the parts car I have saved every single Fastener to send out to your pleading guys for their eventual reuse on my ACR restoration. This project is just to have a daily beater to drive that I don't hate and don't hate working on.

With a chunk of rope valve stem seals are easy enough to do later with the engine installed. Rear main while you are doing clutch and oil pan though is a no brainer.

Woo hoo, I gotcha beat there.  I painted the 426 Hemi out of my buddy’s ‘70 hemicuda before it went back in, circa 1985.  Yes, it was a BS23R car and yes it was the original block.

Closest ive gotten to a hemi was a 68 roadrunner with a reverse manual valvebody, column shifter 727. 572 hemi, 4 wheel drum brakes and 205/70/14 radials. I put an early fast ez efi system on it. Damn thing was so spooky to drive that i refused to road test it.

But the hemi was hemi orange!

This picture is photographic evidence that i am not cousin eddie's cousin. The block paint cleaned up well, same with the aluminium head. Well enough that im not painting it.

I will paint the untake and trans though. And swap out the valve cover.
