I recently put some Momo seats in my Miata, and while I like their position and find them comfortable, the fabric is in rough shape.

In typical GRM fashion, I've been thinking to myself, "Self, you can totally reupholster a seat. How hard could it be?"

So, 2 questions, oh GRM hivemind

How hard is it?

and where do I get cloth for a reasonable (cheap) price? I'm thinking of maybe doing a solid black or dark green, with a patterned insert.

I do have some sewing skills, though I haven't done anything quite this involved. The seats in question are old Momo T-frame Evos.

in a Miata.. I would think something that is sun and water proof might be good. Sunbrella is widely availible

I'm really curious what the steps of reupholstering a Miata seat are like. I have the usual bolster tears but I was thinking of having them repaired.

But then I was thinking: do they still make zebra print fabric?

You can imagine my dilemma.

Search eBay for upholstery fabric. Lots of cool options.

Sunbrella is an interesting idea. I could get some really out there pattern, just for fun.

I guess I'll have to take a trip to Joann Fabrics and see what it feels like.
