Ordered my RS-3's a month ago from Tire rack, now they are back order till the end of May. That's 2 races too late.

Need 4 225/45/15

Anyone have an idea who may carry them? Local dealers all point to Tire Rack.

This is why I bought Toyo R1R's.

It appears to be traditional for Hankooks to go out of stock in the spring. Order in December!

By this time, I would expect any existing stock around the country to have been snapped up. I have no helpful suggestions at this time.

Discount Tire Direct. I bought mine there last spring. The website shows the three warehouses as backordered, but they found me a set in a local store. Call them and try.

Yep. I'm in the same boat and we're pretty much screwed until June. There was discussion about this a few weeks ago. Hankook doesn't ship these very often. Unfortunately, everything I've read says the Toyo R1R would not work very well on an E30. Debating on either trying them anyway or just selling the damn car... I have Star Specs on it now and they're not working for me... Or I just suck at RWD and should go back to FWD...

Lesson learned: next time order them when they're in stock, whether you need them or not. Find the money.

Misleading title. Alco RS-3's:

The nature of tires and wheels is that when they go out of stock, they stay out of stock for a while. I suspect it's because they tend to get shipped by very slow ship. Tire Rack has told me that Hankook also isn't very helpful when it comes to giving estimated delivery dates, it's more of a binary "they have shipped/they have not shipped" thing.

One of the TR reps posted "Get your Hankooks now for race season!" to Miata.net back in December or so. They were fully expecting a supply problem.

Frisby Performance shows '0' stock. You might try Treadzone. They offer a continegency program for racers.

If you're on Facebook, do a search for Andy Hollis "Street Tire FAQ". He has a blurb in there with regards to R-S3 availablility. He hinted that due to their volumn, Tire Rack gets first dibs, so keeping the back-order with them sounds like the fastest way to get them.

I noticed a Hankook warehouse in Cranbury, NJ the other day... I was tempted to stop and pound on the door asking for R-S3's.

Sorry I'm out of the loop, are RS-3's the tire to have in SCCA Street Tire classes now?

Depending on the car and tire size, yes.

They are also highly sought after with normal street-driving enthusiasts for their excellent "real world" performance as well.
