Is there a company out there that sells a box flare for universal fitment? Something I could just trim to size?

You can check local ravines for washing machines, one unit does all four corners

This might be a job for the circle track type companies.

Either that or buy a bunch of Porsche 944 front fenders and get cutting

Touche' my good man. Haha. Looking for a set for the 850 Wagon. Was thinking of getting a set of E30 flares from that DTM Fiberwerkz place and trimming them to fit. The rear quarters are gonna give me the most grief. The rear doors crease around the rear arches, so I would have to cut into the flare itself and patch it.

Im sure you've seen it but if not check it out and "roll your own"

Concept would be similar on your 850. I'm planning to do a 240 wagon for a buddy and I know what you mean about the rear arch and the doors but it's do-able. Follow the procedure ignoring the door line and when its all the way you want cut the door line and fill in the gap in the openings.

Happy to help, it seems that gets posted every time DIY and box flare are mentioned in the same thread so I thought you would have seen it.

If you have any questions on the process just drop me a line, its really pretty simple. Took me a weekend to do the first fender as I was sorting out how to do it and about one day to do the remaining 3 once I had it sorted. A bit more effort for your situation but not terrible.

If I get to doing that 240 soon I'll take photos to show how I deal with the door/wheel arch issue.

oh and www.fiberglast.com is a good place for supplies
