I'm looking for a 97-2004 F-150 bed. 8ft and white. I know I can go to local junkyards, but lets be honest, they're in the yard for a reason. This is a rust free Wyoming rig, and I'd like to keep it that way.

The driver's side of the bed is caved in. Like slid of the road sideways and smacked a tree. Thers no reasonable way to pull it out and the body work would be extensive. Not worth the efforrt it I can source a complete bed. If I could  get just the driver's side pannel, that might work, except id need someone to burn it in, and by then, I be almost at a new(er) bed cost.

My brothers are in Montana. A bed in Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota, or North Dakota are all areas they're willing to travel to.

Where do I start researching? Know of any good outfits?

Craigslist. Local, to me anyway, is a guy who brings a dozen or so beds up a month from down south where they don't use salt. There's gotta be someone serving that area, and if there isn't, maybe it could be you or one of the brothers?

I'd suggest a place that converts trucks, but that might be a bit old for them.

Try car-part.com to search your area or far away areas. Yes, it's JYs but many yards buy "take offs" from places that put service beds onto trucks.

FB Marketplace for those guys with southern beds brought north

If there is a local Ford Dealer that does a lot of commercial sales, ask them. The places that convert them usually have some laying around, but might be too old at this point. There is also a chance they have some on the back lot that have been sitting there since take off.

As others said, CL and FB marketplace is where I see them

A year or two ago, we came up on a truck/trailer heading north on I-95 hauling a load of pickup beds.

Every wrecking yard around here pulls undamaged beds and stores them on pallet racking. You can see them from the road. 40 to 50 truck beds at every yard.  IIRC they charge a premium if they happen to have it in the color you need.

There are a couple people in Minnesota who do the same thing, they get them from Montana and Wyoming mostly.  Check Craigslist.

White is not usually a premium, any other color usually is.

Is that bed shared with same year F250 and F350s? I think the early super duties had the same bed as the F150. If so, that would broaden your search criteria.

Go to a place that sells snow plows and equips trucks for town highway departments.

Go to a place that sells utility tool bodies. They have dozens of regular beds they have removed laying around.

Rule #1:  always consult Facebook Marketplace, which has become the new Craigslist.

Come to find out that its the new style 2004. 2004-2008 beds will work.
