Specifically for my 2000 Expedition. I have been on the fence about fixing it or junking it and I have at least decided to see what it costs. I will need 4 doors and rockers to start. The problem is that Junkyard stuff is no better than what I have so new/repro may be a better option since I would have more than likely have to get them painted anyway and swap many of the parts across anyway so It may not be that much difference to start with a clean slate and just have it painted and them move everything across to the new door.

But on a broader note feel free to post up where you get your British or German or any other sheet metal as it could be useful in the future and to others.

Thanks!!

Roadtrip to a southern junkyard. Surely cheaper and better than overseas re-pop stuff. New OEM parts will be expensive.

For me to get out of the rust belt it is at least 8 hours of driving each way.

car-part.com and pay for shipping? Otherwise off to any local body shop.

Definitely not parts channel and keystone is only marginally better. Junkyards that aren't pick and pulls (auto recyclers I believe is how they're now termed) are heavily networked together, I'd start there with having them check inventory and condition

Doors you want used from a dry state. Rockers for an Expedition, new only because they rust no matter where they are from.

look on the List of Craig for complete running vehicles... you will soon realize that it's not really worth fixing up a 15 year old truck when you can just buy a better one for less than you'd spend on parts..

In reply to novaderrik:

But you may end up spending $5,000 on another Expedition that needs a bunch of work too. That's why I'm putting money into my '95. I'd rather put $2,000 into a truck that's paid off and I know in and out than possibly buying a $5,000 POS.

forget having a body shop paint it, just spray on bedliner

Actually looked around at used prices on car-part and doors are $150 - 250 each and rockers are about $150 each (new aftermarket) so it would e about a 2K investment once you factor in paint and what not. The truck is mechanically in great shape. I have kept up with all the maintenance on this one as up until recently it was my wife's kid haller. Since she is now rocking a new vehicle I am getting my truck back and it seems to be worth it to fix it up a bit.

i know my boss ordered his quarter panels through desert valley auto parts but i think they specialize in muscle cars and older. was the best price he could get on quarters for a 74 nova

What does this thing look like underneath? Is there anything to attach the new rockers and doors to?

Yes there is metal to attach to for the rockers. The doors are just rusting at the bottom but they rusted through above where the door seal is so it is no legally allowed to pass the safety inspection. If I made this fix I could probably get another 3-4 years out of this truck before it goes to the scrap yard. as it is I will not pass inspection next year so it is either do something or this one is done.
