I'm seriously considering swapping a 3.8 into a K car or my wife's '89 LeBaron 'vert. How similar is a fwd C body k frame to the other K based cars?

The engine doesn't mount to the K frame on the K platform cars, only the transmission does if that helps.
It's a fairly easy swap. The only thing with the mounts is that everything up to 90 or 91 is 'small mount' and everything 91-up is big mounts so you might have to get the mount brackets from a 1990 3.3 (3.8s didnt exist in 90 but theyre externally identical) to use on the 3.8 so it will bolt to the 89 body. You have to use the 3.8 computer (they don't even work particularly well on 3.3 computers) which will require some modification of the harness to mate up with your firewall connector and lay out in the engine bay properly. But there is a way to do it and it's fairly straightforward in the broad scheme of engine swaps. Have to use the 3.8 trans too but it will bolt directly up in place of the existing one and use the same axles.
Thanks, I knew you would have the 411.
There is a 2005 3.8/604 complete with a modified wiring harness and k frame that was in a 91 Dynasty for sale. I have never dealt with the FWD C body, nor have I ever even looked close at one. Had no idea how similar it was to other K based cars, besides the extended length.
Is it in Nebraska? I know that guy..
I also have a 3.8 swapped dynasty but in a dynasty it's a drop in because they already come with 3.3s.

Yep, that's the one. I really couldn't find a bunch out about his swap in TD, though. I was hoping he wasn't another "ghost builder" like the turbo 3.3 AWD guy I saw you battling with on a few of the threads in TM and TD.
No, that guy is cool and the turbo Dynasty was real (although hacked together). I talk to him on Instagram here and there as he posts about other things I find cool like woodworking and old mopeds etc. I wouldn't be afraid to buy from him and wouldn't give anything he told me a second thought as far as honesty.
