Family of 5, kids 12, ~5, and 2. Traveling on weekend camping trips in the West and family utility around Phoenix. I suggested Toyota Sequoia, but they just found this and it ticks all their boxes. I don't know much about the recent Fords.
Details: 2018 Ford Expedition 4WD, V6, well optioned, about 48k miles.
It looks nice and well cared for. Any major reliability issues, or high maintenance items to check? Any GRM owner opinions?
Probably an Ecoboost (turbo) if it's a six. These are comfortable country cadillacs.

Keep the oil changed often, like every 5k and the timing chain, guides will last forever. The only other thing I've seen with ecoboost engines are the turbo coolant lines tend to leak around 70k or so.

Yep, only engine offered. If we were to replace our 2015, it would be one of these. They have a number of nice upgrades from our truck. And I'm trying to ignore the impact that Covid has had on the price of lightly used ones....
Current Expeditions and Navigators are comfortable and excellent.
Great for a family of 5.
your daughter will be very happy.
Great replies, thanks. I think they are getting it this weekend or Monday.
She is asking about Warranty. I never get a warranty; I buy broken stuff and fix it myself, but they are busy and not ...like me. What does GRM think of aftermarket warranties? Does Ford still cover it to 60k? I'll search more in a couple hours, but I'm busy doing some work on the Dung Beetle at the moment.
In reply to AAZCD (Forum Supporter) :
Check the websites of Avis and Hertz Car sales. They both have some of these in their fleet and they might be selling cheap.

I would have gotten a sequoia or land cruiser, as you mentioned.
but the tech and comfort in the expedition/suburban/navigator/Escalades are unparalleled to their Japanese counterparts.
I rent them often on our trips to Mexico. But I would never Own one
however, I would highly recommend an extended warranty . Read up on the eco boost on the f150 forum
warranty is good for your daughter and busy family
Our old ambulance company had two of these as supervisor vehicles. They were pretty good for EMS use. They are quick for their size. Brake pads lasted 25k miles. Water pumps leaked at 40k miles and the heater hoses soon after at their molded crimps. The heater hoses would leak onto the passenger side turbo wastegate connector and fill it with coolant causing corrosion and setting a code. In early 2019 a connector wasn't availabe so I had to put an engine harness in it because it was out of warranty. Other than that they took abuse like champs.
Editt: forgot to mention the water pumps on these bolt to the front cover and are belt driven unlike the previous generation engines.
This is the first year of that design if that matters to you. I drove one before I bought my Yukon and really liked it. Drove smaller than it is.
Thanks for all the comments and advice. We did find some other options including a nice Sequoia Platinum Edition, but the Expedition was the winner.
Here they are arriving home with the youngest.
Too late now and not sure how it is optioned but there are a couple of expensive items on the Lincoln version that I believe are available on the Ford version. The auto extending running boards are a known failure point and used to be $3k to fix. I believe it was due to galvanic corrosion because of a steel/aluminum sandwich. The other item is the air suspension but that used to have a coil replacement option. Those are really great vehicles if you have a large family/dogs and need to tow.
