Honestly I think the XLT luxury package is the way to go unless you really want leather. Pretty much all of the meaningful stuff from the lariat plus heated everything and a couple of other nice features, for like 2/3 the price of the lariat.

Could you even get leather on the 1st and 2nd Gen Rangers? I've seen a lot of those but none with leather.

I think ford missed a big segment when making the hybrid an AWD. In my industry we use cheap trucks like this as a workstation, just to sit in and idle all day with the AC or heat on. The hybrid makes a fantastic solution to powering a laptop or charging station. But AWD or 4x4 is a requirement to drive onto the sites we work at.

Well figure that they've got three pretty different drivetrain variants. For a brand new vehicle that's probably all that they wanted to bite off.  In a couple years when the supply chain issues subside and the initial demand surge is sated, AWD hybrid could be tossed into the mix. For more $$.

Yeah they can't even keep up with production on the configurations they do offer. No reason to offer more options and put themselves further underwater.

Looks like $50k minimum, add another $900 if you want cruise control. You can get a non-hybrid 2.7 ecoboost with pro power for $45.5k, and you even get cruise control at that price. About a 100% increase over a hybrid maverick either way.

The hybrid option can be added to any Crew Cab F150 for $4500 or less depending on trim level (the higher the trim level, the less it costs to add hybrid capability). The configurator shows a base XL crew cab with no options starting at $39k, + $4500 for the hybrid which includes the mid-level 2.4kW Pro Power Onboard package = $44k as the cheapest hybrid F150.

That,s impressive as Ford removed the Bronco, Mach-e and Lightning from the X-plan and all of the Appreciation bonus programs.

Which Bronco he get?

I got the email last week that the hybrid XL I ordered last Oct is supposedly going to be built in a couple of weeks.  I'm not sure I believe it, but I do have a vin for it, so it should be going through as a 2022 and built sometime next month.

The only constrained thing on my order was copilot 360, which I had to order to get the sliding rear window for some reason. Beyond that there was a supplier issue with something in the hybrid drivetrain, chips in general, and they stopped taking hybrid orders in Nov because they had sold the whole year's worth already by then.

Interesting. The gap between the cab's roof and the "camper" deck (due to the shark fin antenna) looks like it creates a really awful aero condition. Like holding your arm out the window at 75mph with an open hand. Yikes.

Today I submitted my order for a 2023 Maverick XLT Hybrid. The only options I chose were the 400w power inverter and Cyber Orange paint. I have a 2022 Bronco on the way but I felt that the Maverick would be a safe choice for a backup if something happens (like gas goes up again or the Bronco dealer throws a surprise ADM on it and I walk). I'll either keep the Bronco or the Maverick. I wanted to get an order in before the order banks open for 2023 since the hybrid Mavs seem to be in extremely high demand and are impossible to find without ridiculous dealer mark ups.

The hybrid Mav is literally the perfect vehicle for me. I don't need AWD because Florida and I don't need to tow 8k pounds. What I do need, however, is a vehicle that gets great gas economy and has decent utility. My daily commute is going to increase to 80 miles a day in the next couple of months and the 16mpg Tahoe is not going to cut it.

Now its a waiting game. The 2023MY order banks open September 15th.

I haven't heard from the dealer I pre-ordered with some I first placed my "order". I think I've decided to go a different direction, between not wanting to wait a year and realizing that the Maverick isn't quite the vehicle that I need at the moment. But I'm curious to see if my order still gets placed. If it does I'll probably keep the order in and re-evaluate my situation when it gets closer to delivery time. It's an XLT luxury pack so I don't think there's any danger of it surprise getting built quickly.

The Maverick is only the second vehicle I have ever ordered. I'm still a little confused about the ordering process. The first vehicle I've ever ordered was the Bronco that literally just got built and is awaiting shipment to the dealer. The dealer I ordered the Bronco through is one of just a few in the state of Florida that do not have any dealer fees. This dealership came highly recommended from the Bronco6G folks. I ordered from them because the Bronco is not elidgible for the X Plan. My experience with that dealer has been OK. They suck at communicating as the sales manager and sales rep that I had been exclusively dealing with both left and no one bothered to let me know. I had sent them both multiple emails with questions about my order and never received a reply. Only after I called the dealership did I find out that they both left months ago.

The Maverick is eligible for the X Plan. So I decided to order through my local Ford dealer. That dealer has a $1,295 dealer fee. If I understand the X Plan guidlines correctly, it limits the dealer to charging a max of $100 for fees. The verbiage is a little vague on Ford's website but I'm under the impression that the X Plan limits all the fees to $100 except the destination and delivery fee. Does that sound right?

Yes to limiting fees to $100, but only at a dealer willing to do X-plan. Dealers are not obligated to accept X-plan, so you need to confirm their willingness to play along.

I'm confused... how does the ordering process work?  These are available to order on the 15th, but some people are putting in orders now?

You're allowed to tell dealers you want a Maverick whenever, but dealers aren't allowed to tell Ford you want a Maverick until order banks open (estimated 9/15). So I've "ordered" a Maverick from my dealer, which in theory means they'll order me one from Ford on 9/15.

Good morning everybody, and welcome to ORDER DAY!

At least, I think it's order day. Supposedly it is.

I haven't heard from my salesperson since July, so I texted him just before 9am to ask if we were all set to get the order in. Here's what he said:

So, success!

Then I got this email a few minutes ago:

Meanwhile, if I wanted a Tesla, it's three clicks on my phone with an Apple Pay transaction, then it shows up at my house a few months later. I can't believe how difficult Ford makes it to order a product at list price.
