It's time to start looking for an engine for the G35. The closest to me is $1000 and has a billion miles on it.
JDM Florida has one they claim has 62k on it. I've also heard all the horror stories about buying from JDM importers.
So, tell me who you have used and if you would buy from them again.
Thanks.
In the short term, lots of potential supply of additional engines are stuck off shore waiting to be unloaded. If you have to buy now, you are going to pay a premium.
I did purchase a motor from a larger supplier, years ago and on start up it had a rod nock. Without issue a second motor was dropped at my house after I had pulled the first replacement. Yes I was out my labor. In todays world no one that provides bad service goes unnoticed, read the companies reviews and ask questions of your potential suppliers. They all know they are starring at a potential glut of inventory.
This is a classic short squeeze, in this case they need to hire more long shore man to unload products. Econ 101.
Do you need to JDM import your VQ replacement? Why not junkyard replacement?

The closest junkyard engine is 2 hours away with 180k miles on it for $1000. If I can pick up an engine with less than 100k for under $1500, I would much rather go that route.
I have this one if you are interested. It's been in the garage for years with no no project for it for quite some time.
There is a lightly wrecked automatic g35 sedan at LKQ in Charleston. It shows in their inventory.

Color me interested. Any idea on the mileage?

That yard is a bit of a E36 M3hole. They are on my list for Saturday though.
Sorry for the threadjack...
Yes, I hate that yard. Know any good ones around?

There is a yard in Myrtle Beach that isn't too bad. Nothing close though.
