Which OBD2 Bluetooth Dongle Do We Like?

I finally have an android phone, and as such, can finally get the Torque app. Which Bluetooth dongle on Amazon is worth my money? I just looked and saw roughly one million of them.

Follow up: What's the sampling frequency of Torque?

I have this one. That was the standard for a long time with Torque. I think mines 4 years old now?

I have the elm327???? I think. I have only used it once. It gave me the codes that I was expecting.

The only issue I have is it was very tight on the odb2 port and tough to get off. May have been a little easier if my port was mounted right now it's not but it is on the to do list.

It had good recommendations from Ford owners, Ford's seemed to be picky, and it's been working fine since September. I've used it in a few cars, but it lives in my crown Vic, and doesn't interfere with streaming Pandora while using torque.

I have several. I buy whatever's cheap on Amazon with decent reviews. None of them have failed me yet.

Due to more cars, I bought a couple of the VeePeak small versions recently and they work very well. Over 2,000 reviews.

I do now, but I have a couple of older ones that are too big and bulky to leave plugged in all the time. They still work, but they are currently sitting in a drawer.

Agree, adding that you might as well buy the smallest one you can find. I paid $12 for mine in 2008, so it's about the size of a pack of cigarettes, but it still works, and has worked with many brands of cars over the years.

I kind of want it to die so I can justify buying a smaller one, but it just won't quit!

ELM327 is it.  But get the 'big' one.  The smaller one is also the ELM327 chipset, but has compatibility issues with some cars in my experience.

I had a hard time getting the small, blue, cheap ELM327 to work with my Forester. I got a BAFX version off amazon and it works great.

I came here all excited because this is relevant to my interests...

Then I realized I only have one OBD2 vehicle and I don't drive it anymore.

I purchased another adapter for my car from Tunerblah.com but I cannot, for the life of me, get it to connect.  I also have the BAFX as mentioned above but it sticks out way too far under the dash and I'm constantly kicking it.  I really like the size of this one but it WILL NOT connect.  So far I've used TorquePro, OBD harry scan, inCarDoc and Car Scanner ELM OBD2.  I've emailed the company I bought it from and also Car Scanner asking for either tech support or a refund.

I have the V GATE Scan myself.  Works fine, and I have had it two or three years now.

My issue is with Torque.  (Good thing it is free.)  Once opened it does not let go and has to be closed at least twice, sometimes more.  But the price is right.

I have a BAFX ELM327 Bluetooth OBDII adapter that I bought off of Amazon in 2014. I also bought a 90° OBDII cable so the adapter wouldn't hang down in front of the clutch pedal in my Wrangler. Both were installed in my Jeep from 2014 until the end of 2018. The adapter got beat to hell from flopping around in the dash but it never failed. The cable looked like this:

It allowed me to tuck the adapter up in the dash. It worked really well.

I don't have any experience with the wifi versions for Apple products, just the Bluetooth versions.

I have the larger VeePeak and it works on Ford, Buick, and Kia so far, all with iPhone.

Personally, I have the version that they call the Mother of all Junk.  Though, I have had it for a long time.  They say it is highly cloned.  I might be lucky and have an original.  

I also have a VeePeak small blue that they seem to like too.

I bough the cheapest dongle I could fine. It' has worked without issue for about 8 years. I even printed out a label that says "cop chip" for when those people ask "does it still have the cop chip?!" Why, yes, Billy. It does!
