So the rear main in my 98 Jimmy is leaking. Pulling the trans is a no-go, so which rear main in a bottle is the Best? Blue Devil or Bars leak? Of course they off one that's rear main seal specific and one for general leaks. It's a one peice rubber type, not a rope style.

If it's a rubber seal I really like ATP-205 and it has cleaned up several Miata front main seals for me, along with most of the disaster that was an Alfa GTV6 and an E46 BMW. At this point it's the first thing I try for any rotating rubber seal oil leak on a crappy used car.

How are you using this crap? Dump it in, run 5hrs and drain oil?

I've had decent success with a tablespoon of brake fluid in the oil.

I run it for hundreds of miles actually. But yeah, it's basically done its thing within a few hours and a few heat cycles.
I always heard brake fluid swells up the seals - which works - and then breaks them down so a year or two later it's leaking way more. But have not tried that myself.

There is no permanent fix, other than a new seal.
