have you started and run the car? If it falls on it's face, it's either spark or fuel.. if it starts huffing and puffing, it's probably clogged cats

Have you looked at fuel pressure one the one that falls on its face?
BTW. Did you ever call back? I have been sick so I have been in hibernation.

That seems to point to asc-t (traction control) issues like alluded to in other posts.
Wheel speed sensors, asc-t module, the elbow 'throttle plate' in the intake track, or something related to that system?
In reply to rcutclif:
Thanks! Can the traction control asc-t simply be deleted? I would imagine that there is a way because SPEC E36 exists and I can't imagine that they run traction control
In reply to M030:
Yeah, it's actually really easy.

In addition to doing what slick posted you need a new silicone intake boot that replaces the assembly. Bimmerworld sells one and Mishimoto does. Also I believe you can use the window regulators from a sedan on a coupe but you have to switch sides (passenger --> drivers, etc).

I will be parting out either the 93 or the 94. That said, isn't a Z3 rack the hot upgrade?
I picked which terrible E36, then deleted asc-t to no avail, so I've spun the diag off into a new thread:
