There is a build on rx7club of a guy putting a 2.3 with a volvo head, itb's and a turbo in an FC. If I ever decide to put a piston motor in my 84, I would do the 2.3.

True... probably why many V8 conversions I've seen have louvered bonnets.

FWIW, there's an entire website devoted to V8's in British cars. There's a page of MG cars... I think there's over 100 MGB conversions pictured:

There's a few V6's and I-4's in there as well.

Dan Master's (former owner of Advance AutoWire) car is a nice "cost-no-object" example: http://www.britishv8.org/MG/DanMasters.htm

Just FYI- that's not the 2.3 Duratec. Not that it's a bad engine, but I really like the more modern Duratec family over the previous 2.3/2.5 engines.

Eh, don't really like either of these options. Pretty sure I can't fit in an MGB and while I like the SA RX7, not a fan of the Renesis. Now if it was a regular 13B, I'd be all over the RX

I'll go with the MGBGT.

Now, as an aside, I would also go with a Lincoln Mark V with an BMW N74 V12.

You'd be surprised. There's way more room in an mg than a miata

Really. Interesting. Anytime I look at one, it seems like there is now way I could get my size 14s down in there to work the pedals independently. Or any British sports cars for that matter.

Yeah I didn't even realize he was asking about the Duratec until now.

What about a NA Duratec? Aren't they around 150 hp stock?

So what would it be for you? I love both cars lines, they are both strut/live axle RWD cars. Rotaries kinda scare me since I generally don't trust cars that use black magic to run. Or just do as the Ortega girl asks.. Why not both?

FB with an old school 13B and an MGB-GT with a VW 1.8t.

The Renesis has a silly name and it doesn't last as long as the older engines. My bridge ported 4-port 13B has more miles on it than many people were getting from the Renesis, and it was built with mostly used parts so the real-world mileage is outtasight.

Part of the reason I bought an RX-7 way back when was because it was roomier than an MG.

And driving a hardtop Miata was shocking in that it has a lot more interior room than an FB. (SA have more interior room than FB, though... FB had more padding and series 3s have a crappy huge 300ZX-wannabe dashboard)

A co-worker of mine was shocked to ride in my Miata and discover that the Miata is roomier than C5/C6 'Vettes.

RX-7 SA = the closest thing to a perfect car as has ever been produced. If there are things about it that you don't like, that is because you are wrong.

MGB = British version of the KGB. I can't say any more than that.

I like the Duratec in the MGB, although I believe the 60 deg. V6 from GM is the easiest swap for that car.

I run a 200 bhp 3.4 V6 in my rebodied MGA (sadly not as easy to fit as into an MGB chassis)

What? Which generation miata? Having spent many hours in a C5 vette I only recall the NC having similar driver room.
