I'm trying to figure out my year of automotive playing and a friend and I are contemplating taking the V-wagon and doing One Lap Of America. This would be more of a gentleman's automotive adventure than any serious effort to compete. It seems like fun.
Any opinions?
I've read about every word Andy has written on his One Lap adventures and driving that car at 11/10 for a week sounds exhausting. I'm thinking of doing it at 9/10 and enjoying the cooled seats and XM radio.

I was supposed to do it this year but it fell through. Me and a buddy are tentatively planning a go in 2015. We are looking at it more from the adventure side of it then actually being competitive.
Make sure you tell us about it. You can also try to make a video of some of it, edit it, and post it on youtube if it's good enough.

My racing buddy has done it for several years. He's about as low budget as they come, and has managed to get sponsors to pay for a decent chunk of it. I can put you in touch by email (he's not a message board guy) after the weekend. Send me an email.

My mother is law said she'll watch the kids and my wife said I can go do it. Biggest hurdles overcome.
I did it in '07. Budget on at least $6000 between the entry fee,the set of tires you have to buy from Tire Rack, the fire suit/helmets you need and gas/food/lodging.
It's fun, kinda like an overgrown auto-x.
