PDK is GOBS of fun to drive. I took a 991 Carrera S Coupe PDK around Barber and followed it closely with a 981 Boxster S manual. The Boxster was great, but there is something about a no-lift-shift in which the revs just SNAP on the upshift.
So much awesome in one gearbox.
I will add this. If you get a PDK, and do not opt for the Sport Design steering wheel, you don't get the full package. Those little flappy paddles are a thousand times better than the fiddly little steering wheel buttons on the standard wheel.
I drove both back to back before I bought my '10S. If you want to track the car AND extract all you can from it, the PDK is quicker. No way around it. My experience at low speeds (parking lots and such) was that it's like driving something with an automatic transmission. Best way I can describe it. This is a matter of personal preference. There's simply not a 'right' or 'best' one for everyone. The OP has to decide what they like best.
After having driven them both - I bought one with a traditional manual transmission. I simply found it more engaging as a driver. Having lived with it for a while, I wouldn't change my mind. I have as much interest in the PDK version as I would an automatic transmission -- which is to say no interest at all. Others can and will make different choices based on their preferences.
I suddenly feel like I'm missing something in life. I cant even afford to read this thread nor imagine myself owning anything mentioned with a PDK in the near future.

I have seen some 14' Cayman S out there in the high 50's lately with PDK. That has got to be one of the great sports car deals going right now if you want newish.
I don't think that's accurate. I priced a base Cayman with metallic paint, PDK, PASM, an $800 seat upgrade and maybe a different steering wheel and it came to about $61,000.

This is good to know. I prefer the black steering wheel over the one with all the shiny metal spokes on it, but I didn't know that some came with paddles and some came with buttons.

Used man, there are TON's of loaner Cayman's that have flooded the market, or at least out here there are a good number with say 1400-2K miles on them. The local dealer has 14' loaner Boxsters at 14K under sticker.
The new Cayman has only been out for a few months. I didn't expect there to be any CPO cars out there yet. This is worth investigating.
Manual Non S at 52K when I was there looking at at a Turbo. Walters has a white S, manual again through, at 62K which I think you could snag at 59K

The wheel on the car that I drove was most similar to the multifunction sport wheel in the center. I liked the way that the buttons shifted (though I still used the stick most of the time). I don't really like the look of the Sport Design wheel spokes. The paddles look cool, but you are limited to upshifts with one hand and down with the other. The buttons give you both options with either hand. I have no interest in all the other buttons on the multifunction wheel though.
